Looking good
Are you gonna be able to fit details like trunk, engine & interior into your polycount ? And what's the count on the wheels atm, or is that included in your halves ?

The wheels are only temporary, I just took them from an old model of mine. I'll build some new ones later.

I don't know yet if I'll be able to fit such details in, but it's also very unlikely that I'll model them, as I really, really do not like to model such things.

But I'm glad you all like it.

I didn't do all that much today... I needed a break from the car, plus my sleep rythm is all f*cked up. Again.

I corrected the shape of the rear a bit and I corrected the rearlights as they were not really correct. Also I started on the textures on the 512x512 map.

So... I just finished the wheeltexture.

It's at 4044 polies for everything now.

And here, have a look at my use of the 512x512 map so far.

Note that it has an alphachannel and a separate specular map.

Not much time left...

does the car have to be ready when the 28th begins or is the 28th the last day we can use for working on the cars?

I can sum it up to give you an idea already though:
The base I make with a circular gradient, the darker edges are made with the shape tool, and the text is made by just morphing those logos to fit the round shape.

You would hardly see the brakes through the spokes.

28th is the day you need to post your finals, so all last minute work can be done too, friday

Good luck, you only have about 1k left!

Modelling is finished
I barely made it under the 5k... 4929.. whew!
I just hope I'll be able to finish the texures in time... well, I'll go to sleep now as it's almost three am now and I'm tired. Tomorrow I'll unwrap and texture as much as I can, then I'll hopefully finish the rest around friday afternoon.

Wow, looking at how you did the model and how you did some of the texturing so far this is a very serious contender! Gonna be hard to beat for sure!

Yup, the car had only one wiper.

I'm just starting the mapping now.

Okay... some news, though no new pics.

First, it looks like this will definitively be finished by tomorrow evening at the latest.

Sadlay, I don't have the time to draw the textur by hand, which I would have liked to to. So, I looked again at the render-to-texture function, the last time I tried this I had some problems with it, and as I was too lazy to figure out the problem then I didn't bother anymore with it.
However, to save some time, I just looked at it again and I figured out what I did wrong, I'm rendering out the textures at the moment.

The next pics will come when I've finished drawing the doorlines on the car.
