They are perfect for a game engine, all of them are set up already to be game ready, minus a few details needed for the specific games. Just getting them working properly ingame and adding all of the default games features such as damage, lights, new sounds and tuning isn't any fun at all. The getting ingame and finishing part takes about 5 times as long than actually creating the model. So I abandoned this a long time ago, now I just model cars for fun when I have spare time.. Sometimes I don't feel like making or have time to make a whole new model, so I get a free one from a model site and turn it into something better and very diferent. The modded cars do have alot of work into them. I correct all mesh inaccuracies, create new parts, do alot of modifying, do normals, create textures and texture map them. Not to mention that when the cars are imported into zmod, they are in over 100 peices, and none of the peices load in the correct place, they are all positioned randomly on the X,Y,Z, axis and must be put back together. So even though they are modded models, doesn't mean it is something to snubb a nose at, alot of hard work still went into them. |

Because that is what I feel like doing at that time. I do alot of work, but is is a little quicker than scratch made cars. It is about 4-6 hours less work. I don't see the big deal, that's what the free 3dcafe models are there for. It's not like I am some converter stealing someone elses model, making it crappier by adding other stolen parts, and then claiming it as my own work.

I noticed this site gets alot of traffic, much more so then the gaming sites I used to post my work at when they were in their prime, and I wanted to get some comments and critique from modelers who do not design specificly for games. Why so negative comments?
Anyways I saw your topic at GTAF also, great work on all cars. I don't see any bad thing if one downloads model from 3DCafe for example, it's one way learn to model. I know many modelers who are using them and no harm done here, he said they are from 3DCafe. Keep it going, too bad you're not going to get them in any game. I understand you well thou, it takes lots of time to convert them  |
