Audi TT '07

im posting here seeing that.. god knows what happened to cgcars since its really messed up now, anyways if you remember me.. great, if you dont know who i am, alot of people consider me the person that cant finish a single model lol (i've worked on plenty of projects but haven't exactly finished any) and so ya..

enough of that, anyways, last weekend I started on the new Audi TT design, basically because i think its a really slick design blah blah i love it, want it, etc lol

anyways, the main point im posting this, is not really to seek for modeling help, but rather render help, im using vray and i know there are alot of vray users out there (dont really have to use vray, just really know how to critique effectively), so i can create more realistic renders, since.. my renders aren't exactly up to par with my modeling
anyways, here is 4 wip shots, the first three with my standard 4 omni midday light setup, and the fourth one is using a single vray light (which.. i just found out i have [cause i didn't know where it was located])

so really, tips on lighting and materials is basically what im aiming to get help on; my theory is that modeling can be learned easily, lighting takes an experienced mind to understand whats right or wrong about lighting in renders (even i have trouble figuring out what on earth makes my renders look so fake)

i think the very last render is superb. For a final render this would be ideal, but with a darker floor i think. contrasting the white/silver car with the dark floor.

To the model i think that the sharp edge along the car doesnt meat up at the end of the front wheel arch and the start of the door.

Looks great tho, keep it up and finish it

Andybuck.

LOL, you say you need Vray render help, but you already do better stuff than me
Mind showing me the settings for that VrayLight ? I tried using it once, but couldn't get it to emit light, just stayed black & dark.
And for your model, no crits, looks great. I like the white color, looks better than metallic grey.

in the end im thinking about doing the blue in an outside scene (with motion blur like alot of the pictures seen just because i think they are awesome looking), as for the light, make sure you have the arrow facing downward (or towards your object), and make sure you have vray up and running in your render settings; i know my vray light in that scene there was at 30%, with a GI at like .6 and white; but i suggest you change the shadow bias? maybe iterations, down to something low just to render it fast to see its working. My bias or iteration or whatever in that last render is at 20, so.. ya you can see a difference in render time lol

Okay, didn't know I had to drag the light when placing it, that's a start. Still not getting anywhere, it's way too grainy and bright, even when I fiddle with the values. Would you mind posting a .max file with the light setup in (you shouldn't include your car mesh, a box instead is good too), for me to have a look at ?

just a little test.. the idea came from the shooting brake concept pictures i've seen from some car show through google

its nothing really exciting or new, i just got kinda bored and decided to make a render lol

(i know alot of you wont like the floor, i dont really either lol, it was just a small.. not really a test, just a render out of boredom)

i know its been a while, senior year for me has been a b*tch.. seriously, lol its been my hardest year this whole time, taking enough hard classes, but.. its been a boring weekend, alot of people are out of town or just plain out and i have no idea where they are lol, but anyways.. i just did a tiny bit of work on it, loosing my hobby of modeling i believe heh, anyways, heres a new scene render and an HDRI test

nice, but transition between the road and mountain is bad, maybe make a stone block or something

Looks pretty good, nice and clean! I never been a big fan of the Audi TT/350z form though. I like the quick scene, the textures are nice. Where did you get them?
