Thanks Flash

I am currently attending in a digital art school in Vancouvr and hoping to become a game artist making racing games. Here in Vancouver our biggest studio would be Need For Speed EA which I'm hoping to get into one day . My school doesn't teach us Max and we learn Maya so I had to do some self training for this project.

Ok here we go again.. since last post I've tweak the front end some more. This is a model of a R34 V spec I. This is a high poly model and there isn't really any function for it.. this is just practice before my demo reel which need to be done in 6 months. Mainly the front is done I just haven't made the fog lights an model in the headlights. In regards to the grills and air intake I do not know how to appoarch it. Should I close them in as it and add texture or opent them up and model the grill?

Critques and Comment are welcome

Thanks Kiro

Yes I've actually have modeling experience. I started modelling about 9 months ago in Maya. My school has taught me the basics and I've really picked it up from there.

Wow I think the front of your skyline looks very good. Everything seems pretty proportionate...it really looks like a skyline. Nice job man.

Hey man, where did you get your blueprint to model your skyline? I'm trying to find a good quality blueprint and can't seem to find a good one.

Thanks

I got the blueprints from SMC! this is pretty much the only place I look for prints they got the best ones.

Here's a small update of my GTR. I'm beginning to really get the hand of things now that I'm on break from school and having more time spent on max it'll be a short 2 weeks but I will cram as much work as I can.

I worked on cleaning up the front some more. added the fog lamp and started putting in the seams in. I'm aiming for accuracy and realism for this project.

Your model looks nice. I don't know the car much so I can't crit about accuracy.

Spend some time on your materials. The red one is too plastic IMO.

Yea i agree with you Tom.. still very new with 3ds max and haven't really explored materials yet. still focusing on the modeling. Anyways heres another update most of the body work is done.. I hated the side mirrors it was a pain to make and its still far from perfect. I goto finish the windows and spoiler a few lights and off with making the rims! Back to school now so I won't have as much time working on this and also means I'm using maya again :? Finally getting a introductary course for 3ds max! *yay*

great work on this car, but the front turn signal on the bumper looks a bit on the small side

Better now than before but I think your material lacks a large, diffuse area. Please look on a Blender tutorial I found on "how to make a car paint" : the introduction is not Blender-specific and is of interest for you.

Here's the link : http://thomasbaron.dyndns.org/index....al-in-blender/ (the first post I speak about in my post)

Thanks a million guys

Esp thanks to Tom for the feedback and help. I haven't had time to look into the tut yet so I'm still using the same shader. I'm almost finish with the exterior work and then I can start playing around with texture, shaders and such. I have a huge problem with making my own glass shader as you can tell. :? BTW thanks for mentioning the dark render.. It looks fine at home on my LCD but when I view it with another comp is pretty dark.
