Thanks man, glad you like it.
Here's a compo that I've been working on. Maybe the car is too big, maybe the lighting is wrong, but I like it

nice work, but i would like to add something, see the attachment please, i personally would prefer one of these, especially one in black&white, because it doesn't have this rainy color, which can give a negativ feeling when looking at it, if the base color would fit better, it could be even better, but it's just an addition, so no serious criticism

@ gangmemberno23 - thanks for that. I like what you've done with the image, they look great, much better than my original render. I'm still playing with the setup so hopefully I can get it looking like that when it's rendered. For now I can just use one of the images you've done for me, as I really like them

Hi!
Very nice car, good model, but the render needs some afterwork in photoshop
Here's my quick work. A used 4 layers:
- the original image modified with curves, the tyres are a little darker
- a gaussian blurred layer with saturation (screen)
- a greyscale image with gaussian blur (screen)
- and a lens blurred greyscale image, and its for the crome parts (screen)

Also attached an animated gif, so you can see the changing.

Find me a ref pic of the door seems welded up on a General Lee and I'll do it

i added more versions of it (see attachment), the mid on the left, looks like it would come out of an old car book

some thoughts about the rendering itself:

- you could render a simple box, instead of the car, to find the correct perspective for the car placement, it has to do with the horizon position and the rays that go to the horizon's center point, both, the lines of the box and the lines of the used background image have to have the same horizon center point where the traces end up, so, if the box and camera perspektive is set correct, the objects will have the same horizon center point were all traced lines comes together, i could make a simple example what i mean with that, if you need

- you could change the background picture, a picture/photo with a more sunny feeling, the current image has a rainy feeling (the clouds, the color, the ground and its color)

- you could add atmosphere to the rendering (if your render engine isn't as realistic as maxwell render is), this is useful when objects are rendered that are far away, it has to do with the light passing/traveling through the air, togehter with this, dirt particles, smog and so on, change the look/color of the air

Thanks man, you certainly know your stuff! I'll have another go with a better background image at some point.

I've gone back to the standard version in the studio scene, tried to do a silver version so here it is:

- yeah, probably the camera angle, FOV, that sort of thing. I'm forever playing with camera positions, trying to get the perfect viewpoint, maybe I'll get there one day. If anyone knows the 'perfect' set up, please let me know

Until then, here are some more renders. Some good, some bad, let me know what you think

dont we all

loving the open bonnet general lee, and also the silver one in the dark studio...the photocomp ones look like the car needs a tad more perspective, and a bit brighter reflections? just my opinion...photocomps always need the most experimenting, so hard to get right

smashingly Awesome

i love those one with the with the brownish background, really gives you a fell of when the car was made.

i also love noticing all the small things in the renders that look awesome, like on the third render on lastest post, the front tire, has this great litte fall off, and a little reflection on the middle of the tire, i think thats just looks great!

and thing i saw, when i was watching a film, when taking studio pictures of cars, they had a back rug running parrel to the cars side, jsut outside of the camera shoot, give some suttle refections along the side of the car, i tried it with your set up and it work fine.

keep on rendering this fine looking car

If you can turn, your not going FAST enough
