Audi R8

Been a very long time since i have made anything in 3D so please be gentle

Making the 2007 Audi R8. lowpoly and highpoly so any tips on mapping would be REALLY nice for the lowpoly. (i use maya

so your lowpoly mesh is the high poly one just without smoothing?

the start looks very promising though

so far, so good, for a second there i didn't notice the difference in the two models until i looked closer. very very nice and looking smooth.

2 types of modelling at once hmmmmm you have a great start lets see what you can do. umm for the mapping part just play around with it in max or look at some tutorials i think you'll eventually get the hang of it, keep it up.

high + low poly
wire (i thought it was the wire of the low poly version)
high poly

yar i know will do that at the end so i know how many polys i have to play with , im tryin for about 10k - 12 k ( with wheels ) so *crosses finger* hope i can make it

You plan on doing normal maps ? Anyway; the mapping of a car is not that hard, took me 3 models or so to get it down correctly, but now it's no prob. Just select all the poly's on a view (like all side poly's, all top poly's), paying respect to body panels and lines (better to break your mapping on body lines), and apply the correct planar mapping on it. Just tweak it a bit afterwarsdn, and you're there. (this is with Max in mind, but shouldn't be too difficult if you find the right buttons to use).

thanks ill mess with it when it gets there donno about normal maps but maybe might help for the grill

Done the wheel, omg its is hard loads of nope start over taken be about 6 hrs to do the rim, and i still think the spokes are a tad thin , but i am NOT ganna redo it not sitting for 6 hrs remaking it
