McLaren F1 LM/GTR Shorttail - My First car

So this is my first ever model, a McLaren F1 LM/GTR(When friends all told me that this is the worst possible car to be my 1st model...) This is a low poly model that is going in game once it is done.(I am working on JGTC All Stars MOD for rFactor with ML and Revelli, which I mainly do 2D stuffs)

I know there are lots of faults on the model so please point them out. Also please explain how can I improve it...

Thanks,

AS

First off let me say, nice car, mayb not the best choice for a first model but you seem to have a good grip on it so far so thats ok i guess
I dont see anything major that need fixing up apart from you have a few unnessicary lines on your mesh... and especially for low poly you might wanna get rid of them..
Other than that, excellent work...

The mesh is too dense to be a low poly car fair enough your not using any smoothing modifiers but you really could get rid of alot of vertices especially on the side.I have no doubt that revelli will help you anyway so.

hey mate its too early to judge on your wire but check you front wheel arch u might have to weld some vertices up cuse ur wire frame is showing some triangles.

Triangles doesn't matter since it's going to be game model and no smooth modifiers are not going to be used.

Mesh looks very nice even thou it is quite dense in some places.

Thanks guys. By low poly I am aimming for a similar number of poly count compare to ML 's and Revelli's model...maybe a bit higher as this is a McLaren. Now it has 888 faces (does that mean 888 x 2 polys?) and I guess the whole car will be around 3000-4000 faces when I am done.

@DJ Crys: I need someone to tell me how to do renders then...

I will post more progress later today. Any comments on accuracy?

Don't know about the accuracy, it sure looks like McLaren thou

But indeed it is 2x888 faces since you only got one half done atm. Will it have engine aswell as interior?

It will have a simple interior and a simple engine (as the engine cover is made of two pieces of glass with the central intake). I believe those won't add much polys to the car...

I haven't touched the hood yet...my first goal is to have the general shape modeled as this is my first model. I will get back to that soon.

somehow i dont see that being finished under 4000 faces without some major reduction, but that is quite fine with me (not sure if the mod has a faces limit)

looks great and nice to see a shorttail

Thanks ML and J Design.

As this is my first model I guess I will just forget about poly limit for now. Though it will have some reasonable poly count as an in game model.

Some updates on the side. Still need front/rear lights, all the glass, vents on the hood, side and rear...

there are some edges whose can be removed, i think that you can also weld those vertices on wheelarches

No mesh smoothing(as this is a low poly model), only used smooth groups.
