Porsche 917-30

ok, I found this site and got inspired This is the first car I have ever attempted to model so be gentle I am doing this as an experiment to see if I can get the car done and get it into rFactor. So, of course the modeling is the first step. Will keep updating the pics

ps.. oh ya, I am using Max

pardon my ignorance, but is there an easy way to render with the wireframe showing? Or just printscreen the window?

well if your using mental ray you can force wire frame or just make a default material and tick the box for wire frame and assign it to your car then turn off turbo or mesh smooth and render out.

I agree with Silent Moebius... an excellent choice of car indeed.

I think you should check the front wheel well because half of it is supposed to bend inwards slightly (I know I'm not being clear, but check some reference pics.)

ok.. here is a bit more. I know there are some pinches and smoothing group problems, but the bulk of the body turned out pretty good. I am not going for 1000% accuracy as I want to keep the poly count as low as possible. Considering that, I am happy with it so far. Disregard the seam down the middle, not connected yet.

Be gentle

looks cool. about the seam down the middle, you should use the symetry modifer to avoid the need to ever "join" the two halves of the model, and make it quicker/easier/more efficient when making changes to the model (as they are instantly updated on the "reflected" half!

HTH

looks cool to me so far, I can see a few problems but you have said you are working on those already!

Keep it up!
