Fiat 126p

Hi! This is my second project. I've started it today and I will add more renders everyday, because now I've got plenty of time.

very basic, but u have got the shape i guess
just keep adding details here and there and see what comes out
my advice 2 u would be model the front bit next and work on it until ur happy, dont just move on... if your having problems dont be afraid to ask for answers in here... the reason your not getting many replies is that ther really isnt much to comment on... so when you have more to comment on more people will post so dont be discouraged that people arnt posting.

Another renders but today I only did bumpers and headlight base, because my system crashed down and I've formatted my hard disk so I was installing all programs again. I've got two question too.
1) How do you all made light and base for the lights in 3ds Max 8, because the metod I use is not perfect?
2) How do you texture the light so it looks like a real one?

7 new renders! Today I've been working on some details and I've fixed bumpers issue. Tomorrow I will add rear light, rear vents and side windows. It now has over 66k polygons.

I've got another question.

How can I made material for side mirrors?

hey its coming along.. normally i would suggest to post renders other than normal mats (i.e. clay, wire... etc). but ithink its safe to say that your a beginner and prob dont know how to. if u can post a clay so we can c bumps.
Try and get a a few mor details in for instance look at this picture http://www.abc.se/~m9805/eastcars/fsm/maluch-cze.jpg
and you will see that the headlights are actually inside the front not on the outside. also add the body lines that are on the side of the car. Even if you think you dont have enough skill to do it, still do it because u can only learn from mistakes... and people can point out any errors you might have and how to go about fixing them.. i always say its better to be over your head than under it ... but try and get as much detail as possible

also fix the weld line down the symmetry line of the car. do this by aligning those vertices from the side viewport and make it exactly the same point on the x axis and the symetry on the x axis... also make sure that the symmetry modifier is below the meshsmooth (or turbosmooth) modifier on the modifier stack...

Good Luck

There are a lot of versions of Fiat 126 but this picture is from the oldest version and I am making a little newer one but I've added the body lines.

I'll do this when I'll finish this model.

I've also moved headlights and made side windows. I haven't got time to do the vents and rear lights but I'll do it tommorow. Now it has over than 83k polygons. So here it is now... 7 new renders.

hey!! its coming along!
getting better and better everytime. its starting to develop as the details are added in.. dont really know this car but maybe the bottom right part of the window should be sharper..

Also the top right corner the door doesnt quite align with the car just fix that up...

Add the wheels soon and it will almost be complete
maybe google the internet for a tutorial on how to do a clay render if you dont know how coz that would mean the render can help u and us find bumps..
keep going man and dont give in!

I've fixed that.

I've added to the back hood another meshsmooth and attached two parts of it together. Now it has 128k polygons.
Here are 2 new renders.

It' still too round at the corners of windows and doors, just look at some reference like this one; http://www.zw.unimaas.nl/nutri/pix/C...126%5B1%5D.jpg

Another picture from an older version. I've once had Fiat 126 so I know what its looks like but I checked this with blueprints and I thing it is OK enough. But thanks for the ref.

What do you mean? I am using a perspective viewport so what is wrong. Model is lined up correct with all blueprints.

Next day of modelling and it has 157k polygons. Here are new renders in smaller resolution but better quality and less weight.

dont tell us how many polygons it has once smoothed but how many it has without meshsmooth on.. Post a wire so we can see if we can reduce or fix wire for better technique... also about the views, it looks like to me like it has no perspective on it.. anyone else agree?

Well, I will keep it simpe. It's looking good but it's all wrong cause this car isn't smooth at all !!!, so i just think that your car is too smooth ant this is the reason why it isn't looking like the real one...

I think you're wrong because all cars are smoothed a little (There are no "square" cars) and I know what it looks like and it is matched up with all blueprints (even smoothed), so I don't know what is the problem for you.

I can't do it know, because I have converted some parts to editable polys (vents and rear hood) after I've added meshsmooths.

I think my next project will be Porsche 356 (cabrio and coupe, so It'll maybe have an interior ). I'll add wheels for all 3 or 4 models, when I'll finished the next project.

I agree, your model looks way too rounded and smooth to me, some places even look wobbly.

Maybe it looks like that because I didn't weld two parts together. I'll be looking for this one and maybe I'll move some vertices from side to front so it won't have that much smooth. We'll see..
