@brunoqs.. actually, i'm following a tutorial myself, lol, here's the link:

http://www.smcars.net/forums/tutoria...t-audi-tt.html

only difference is that instead of modelling the concept audi tt in the tutorial i'm modeling the original tt, hope that helps, if you still have problems, add me to your msn, and i'll see what i can help you with

I see that you haven't joined surfaces. I spotted few errors, see attachment

so the black lines on the model in the perspective view are basically the splines you created yourself, and then rhino just fills up the gaps with polies?

the model's looking good btw

Rhino doesn't use polys, it uses NURBS.

I think rear and frontend doesn't match very well to rest of the body. type _GCon to command panel of rhino and then click those lines between side, front/rearend and rest of body. If it says G0 then it's bad (position match), G1 is good (tangency match) and G2 is brilliant (curvature match)

hmm. thanks for the new suggestions, i checked and they are G0, but then again, i'm just trying to understand the basics of it first, so i'm not to worried that the curves dont match, i'm not really expecting a 100% car, just more or else something that looks like a car.. but thanks though, i'll definitly keep that in mind for my next car

well, here's a small update, started putting detail, slowly

@veskmurtti.. i actually tried to play around with the curvature, and i got the rear to be G1, which suprisingly is a noticble for me, it seems much more smooth, i mean the surface to surface part.. the front is still G0, i'll play with it later on today to see if can make it at least G1 too, thanks for this advice man

Looking good! I know you are just trying to learn Rhino and probably not going for something two extreme. The rear fender, right above the rear wheel and tailight could be one single surface instead of two surfaces for a cleaner and smoother look. Other than that all of you surface compositon looks good, you want the minimum amount of surfaces that get the best accuracy for less parting lines when exporting the mesh. The upper pillar clipping can be fixed in interface if you change your mesh setting to 0.0 for all options except maximum distance, edge to surface which would be or less: ~0.006. This will increase your mesh quality during modelling. One last thing, it looks like your rear end/license plate area is does not match the edge of the tailight/rear fender line. Keep it up!

thanks man for teh comment, although about the mesh my rhino crashed, so i just put it on the high setting that rhino offers and it did fine.. also is there a way to join surfaces and get rid of the line between them without remaking them?

update: front detail done, front end is now G1/sometimes shows G2, dont know why, and rear is still G1

Nope, wish there was. But that's why i love Rhino, cause it's so easy to delete the two surfaces, keep the constructions lines (or dupedge or dupborder before you delete the surface), join them where they meet and rebuild as a single surface. Take a look at the attached pic. The red lines would be the construction lines and the blue would be the trimming line. It's rough, but the idea is to make one really big surface that covers the right surface and trim off the un-needed parts. Very fast, requires some creative thinking, but very clean and effective.
