looks sweet dan, though for some reason it looks quite bare, like its lacking detail of most cars... its certainly pretty minimal in design, no real defining lines or anything. nonetheless, looks great! that chrome that goes around the window : are those all separate pieces so that you could open the door and have the chrome attached?
looks good man. hey have you seen my 65 /66 mustang coupe yet? |

Thanks all for the replies!
"Almost done save for the emblems, lettering etc." In fact these cars were bare: the main feature was the side crease, accented by a thin contrasting strip (not done yet). Incidentally i parked my car yesterday night near a car much like that, only it was terracota, and i was struck by its bareness. In the later models during the 80s' these cars finally received more decoration (albeit modern). LOST - thanks man, you should try this setup even if you don't use VRay, just creathe the overhead self-illuminated huge white plane. sarN - i searched for this model but could not find its thread, can you poost the link please? And what happended to that overdetailed Fastback? Chick in yet? (-; As for the chrome sills, you are right. The lower sill molding looks continuous when it should split in the doors, but the gap is so small it does not show in the renders. As for the top molding, it is actually a chrome gutter drip railing. Being a hardtop in the classic sense, the thin window sills were integral with the glass panes. I am searching for good refs on the lettering and will post updates later. This is one of the custom options, silver with half-vynil roof, using Nitrous II wheels: ![]() |

looks sweet! i must say i like it better in silver than that orange. i must say im a big fan of the resto-modding where people take apart the whole car, throw disc brakes all around, reinforce the frame, etc to make it a safer and better car while maintaing the classic muscle look.
oops, i guess the reason you never saw the model was because i never posted it! ill go ahead and do that now since it is actually pretty close to done. keep it up, your taste in cars is probably my favorite around here haha |

Thanks pedro, LOST, FlashG, Tol@te, tiberius!
dup - thanks for the crit. I am constantly re-rendering my models, trying to improve my rendering method. Maybe they are too contrasting hence the washout look. I have rendered the model with a fender skirt. Never seen a fender skirt-equipped Opala but since i like fender skirts, here it goes. ![]() ![]() Four-door version: ![]() ![]() ![]() [ ] Dan Count your blessings one by one Say nothing till you hear more (two things i learned from the Irish) My Classic Cars' Gallery My Classic Car Trading Cards' Gallery |
