1966 Mustang Coupe

Hey everyone, I have been working on this model for quite a bit of time. Everything is pretty much finished save for the final material for the headlights (they still look crappy...) and the interior. The only detail left on the outside is the chrome ring around the back exhaust and the locks for the doors and trunk. Oh and also the emblems. After I complete the interior I'm also planning on doing the fastback version.

The 65 / 66 were essentially the same car, so this could either be a low optioned 66 or a 65 with the pony interior, with the round gauges and (soon to come) the ponies on the seats. I don't think the wheels are actually Ford wheels but they look pretty good, and I'll also model some Ford ones. I will also make some differently optioned ones such as some with the clear fog lamps in the front grill, learn how to texture stripes and then I could do other versions such as the California Special with the ducktail spoiler and graphics.

I'm not sure if I will go into crazy detail, the only thing tempting me is i already have a model of a 302 that could be dropped in here... hmmm...

I have figured out a pretty good way of rendering, but the part that looks terrible is that the windows are grayed out in back. I gotta figure out a way to fix this...

OMG, love this little baby!

Nitpick: the front of the vent window rounds at the base, chamfering the adjoining edges will fix that. And i like the silver much better.
Great job, man. great job.

thanks guys, heres an update before lunch and a test...

i slightly sharpened the edges where the headlight piece meets the front fender. dan you were right about that curve. i fixed it in this one, its not perfectly straight but what i had was way out of whack!

heres a reference and a render where i tried to recreate the 'emberglo' color

Great looking car! maybe it is the angle but the rear window looks too small, the c pillar looks a little thick, also the side lines where the panel kicks up near the window seems a little flat. better on the vent window. nice color combo too!

tiberius : great crits. i tried to make the window a little bit bigger in the upcoming shots, which in turn made the c pillar a little less thick. you are also right about that side part. does anyone think that the side of the car looks too flat?

heres orthographic / wire picture, as well as a clay render

first one is very large!

I'll give a cookie to anyone who can guess my next car. The year is 1971, and it's one of the most sought after muscle cars ever. One is going up soon on barret jackson and is estimated to bring in over 4 million dollars. Thats the convertible though, I want to do the coupe!

thanks to all of you! im glad you like it, i will do some more work on the interior for sure today.

MuscleCarFreak: Eh, I don't have any cookies, but it really is the almighty Cuda! Hemi of course!

Tol@te: glad you like the car, and yes I will be doing the fastback version as well, after I do all of the outside and inside.

Expect some updates today! My goals are the inside roof, doors, and hopefully the emblems for the outside.

also looks like you need more wheelgap on the rear tires. all these muscle cars have this poised stance, mainly because on the rear end they have this bigger wheelgap.

excellent model man, i really like those renders

Aw, I hate these wrong promises all the time . Maybe you could at least direct me to a site with some decent browser cookies...

By the way, A3DR made an excellent high-poly '71 Cuda, if you need some help I'm sure he's the right man to ask .

thanks for all the responses, sorry no updates, was real lazy... i did fix the headlights, and rendered it in candy apple red. i made my own paint shader but for some reason it ****s up on the back of the car. wtf?! i tried like everything and now i give up on it, so i guess ill be using brazil car paint again. but for the cuda i will try my own shader and hopefully it will work...

moebius : you are right, right now the car is flat. i will try to remember to angle it to make it look a bit meaner. pretty soon though im going to start a new model and go to hot rods and see how quickly i can do them.
