Light is right : Ariel Atom II

Here's my entry in the contest with one of the most extreme lightweight cars. As no blueprint is available, I started modeling with the chassis. Tires are placeholder to show the size of the car.

Comments & critics will be appreciated !

I would love to own an Atom. Those things are sweet. Anyway, nice start.

Anyone who doesn't know what the Ariel Atom is, might want to check out this vid

Thanks for all your kind words. Yes carfreak I know about side / front / rear / top photos, I'm using it for very global proportions. But anything else is only done by refpics.

Here's a little update with some new parts modeled and some materials. Sorry for the small size of the render, no time to let Blender compute bigger image before going to bed.

Thanks for comments.

Yes Silent][Moebius this is the very important thing about modeling it. It will depend on my modeling speed and how much time I can get for it this summer.

But it's really a pleasure to model as everything is visible, a single refpic brings enough information for hours of modeling.

Little update. No time for modeling these days. Hopefully it won't last.

edit : replaced picture with a better quality one.

Thanks. New update with brake disc and some stuff around it. The lower arm material is wrong, I will fix that (should be black as the upper arm shader)

Some real beautiful/ technical work youve done so far. Atom is a very cool car. I remember the first time I saw it, was on Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson's face flapping inthe wind lol. What engine are you going to give it?

Thanks for all your kind words. I've found out a prettty decent set of refpics showing an Atom during its build.

I will post later a clay render to better show the modeling (as the current materials are not so terrible)

About the engine I will put into it, I will model according to this refpic. Think it's the Honda, compressed version, 300hp.

For your information, Ariel advices not to use such an engine for unexperienced Atom driver
