I'm no Maya user, so I'm afraid I can't really help you specifically.

But I've some general advice for you :
- This particular green doesn't suit the car, IMHO. But it's up to you to choose.
- Use specular reflexion on a large area, with low effect.
- Try to add some metalic flakes, as a texture.
- You should go for brushed metal on rims, not reflective one.
- The black plastic used in grills on air intake is too dark.
- The orange on side blinker is too pale.

A quick update with some shader improvements.

The green was chosen purely because it was one of the original colours Lotus pushed the car with for this specific model style.

And I like it.

Also, the darker pic with the car cover is a bit from the opening of the animation. I was playing with some SyCloth simulations and found that it worked perfectly for this type of application, in case anyone was looking for a good quick cloth plugin.

i like your model but i think your environment needs some tweaking its lacking depth. Add maybe a displacement or a bump map on the ground and background.

i really think you should work on your renders as it lets the model down. Try some tutorials you can find on this forum (or the links). I think it should help you out, and you can make a better render. I don't mean to offend you, but there's a whole lot more potential for this baby!

Nice to see you again TG!
The model looks fantastic! I have just a small request: could you do it in BRG (British Racing Green)? That would look awesome!
Does the emblem on the rims stick out that far btw?

Awesome work man, I like that teaser render too.

You got er Nighteye!

And I'll be doing some reasearch on that side cap for the wheels. So far I thought it was fairly accurate, but I may be off.

As for materials, I am still working on that, but I dont plan on going way overboard unless some easy maya solutions are found, as its not my specialty. However, I plan on doing a fine animation when I get to that part.

The green is a bit too yellow I think, it's not perfectly like BRG. You're close but not done yet

I also think your scene setup is just a little bit too dark to show the car properly.

the big problem to me are the wheels/tires. in particular the tires since they seem to be solid black. still, it looks nicely modeled from what i can tell.

I modelled this car recently as well (not the federal version though). Cool work, but I agree that the general lighting/shading isn't doing the model justice.

Cheers!

After a pretty boring and busy Christmas, I've gotten a bit of time again to play (work) on the model.

This time around, its just some ideas on how I would improve on the design. Mind, it in no way reflects what I'll be doing with the final mode, and the materials are still far from complete.

I'm not fan of the new rear, but as it's your own design and your very own work, it's up to you to choose which way to go.

The renders look better than previous ones, essentially because the quality is higher. Not perfect, because lighting is still very grainy on the rims and in the headlights. If you're working with GI, you should increase the number of maximum computed bounces if you can.

The new paint looks like a good start to enhance. Try add some metallic flakes and play with the specular highlight to get large lighter areas.

The side blinkers (both front one and rear one) are a bit weird. In terms of modeling, they are a bit lowpoly. Also, the textures need more definition.

Another texture needing work is the license plate. It's really blurry.

Anyways, as I already said, it's getting better and better. Keep it up, and don't forget to keep us updated.

meh, tom you're always taking everything away that is worth mentioning

the rear end is a matter of taste of course, and i am not a fan of it either :/ also you should check out the headlight casing-material. it looks rather grainy too.

British plate but steering wheel on the left side?

And the rear lights reminds me of the new Espirit concept...
