Lotus Elise WIP

Once again, I'm back from a long silence. I'm currently working on a commercial proposal for Lotus and doing this with an Elise.

So far the modeling is going doo, I'm about a week in and trying to get as much of my free time into this project. But I'm having problems with reference pics for the brakes, and the inner lights, anyone got some refs for these?

Nice model of a rarely modeled car. I hope Lotus will accept your proposal !

If it's possible, you may consider joining the "Light is Right" contest.

Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster
Previous : Marcos 1800 GT (60's winner), Ariel Atom II (LightIsRight winner), SuperSeven (WZA #4)

Looks like a great start, but frankly I feel you are teasing us with some small shot and clay at that... Some things bother me but I'll have to have more shots to be of further help. Ive modeled one of these but I modeled the Exige Sport (wide body one)

Here's the back. I'm also just not getting along with Maya's built in mentalray. It used to work fine for me, but lately I'm just getting lots of blurriness in and around shadows, and errors in the render that looks like shadows where they shouldnt be. Any Maya rendering pros out there?

You're model is certainly looking nice

Do you have Final Gather turned on? If so, what do you have Final Gather Rays set at? Those shadows may be caused by low setting for FG Rays. If you don't like them then you likely need to turn that to a higher setting like 500 to 1000 rays. The downside is that it takes longer to render with the higher the number of rays.

Thanks for that tip. I've never handled much rendering in mayas mentalray before as I've alwasy been the modeller and animator in groups.

But I'll have more renders tonight to test that.

Also, I still cant find any pics clearly showing how the smaller headlights are shaped on the inside. Any other knowledgable folk out there?

Larger render with a high FG ray count.
