thanks for all the nice comments

ive decided to go with either option 2 or option 3...because i dont like the 2007 350z, its really really weird at the moment, even for a SuperGT car ...so ive just started a GTR body shell

@Catlin: in some photos they have tiny ones which seem to go completely bright red during a race, and in others they have the giant cannons like ive got on my model

@S][M: good idea, although itd look odd without the nissans, seeing as they make up a third of the field

really good job on the nissan so far i love it. As for the options i would really love to see how you would create a gt car out of this nissan so i would go for option 2 (i think it was 2)

very clean modeling can you post some wires? and also with this gtr shell are you gonna make your own gt body panels for it? or is there already one out?

some updates, and wires for YL...that back end is a bitch to make in high-poly...a big smooth curve with lots of hard edged shapes cut out of it :x...itd be much easier to do in low poly

also, ive noticed a problem in both 3dsmax 9 and 3dsmax 2008, dont use normal boolean, sometimes it makes random edges on your mesh think theyre creased when they shouldnt be, and fixing it is an absolute pain in the ass (you basically have to delete everything and rebuild it to get rid of it...no welding or bridging or capping can fix it)...pro-boolean doesnt seem to have the same problem but its a bit more fiddly to use

@advan: maybe here...im sure someone somewhere started before me

Looks very nice,, very good looking wires. so simple on some places8o

As for the boolean, i know about the problem. A few weeks ago i posted on this forum about the problem en nobody understood, but looks like you had the same problem. It's very annoying that you can bridge it or something but you have to rebuild it completely.

keep it up, like to see some updates

i was going to make the 350Z to complete the GT500 field, but now im not sure, because Carlos Ghosen announced at the GTR launch that the GTR will be back in SuperGT for 2008...from a technical viewpoint that doesnt really mean anything because SuperGT cars are essentially sports sedans, but now i hafta decide if i want to make the 350Z, make my own GTR GT car, or wait for ages until the real GTR GT car comes out...or just do some completely unrelated things
Excellent work. when mapping stickers to the car what what size of bitmap do you use to get them to look sharp in the renderings.

I'm guessing these are the same 5 you already have. These are a REALLY high resolution (won't fit on my monitor at 168X1050) about 5000X4000 as a guess, not sure exactly for some reason i can't open them once they have been downloaded

And good grief, what a wonderful looking model, IC! Fantastic work! Now, do not get too tempted by this GT500 thing - I demand the stock GT-R finished first Keep it up, mate!

righto, heres a start on the GT500 and some tiny updates on the stock version...my model lines up perfectly with the blueprints endo donated, so my complex photo lining up thing worked well (although it was tedious to do)...according to the SuperGT news section, there'll only be the two red Nismo GTRs next year, and the other teams will retain the 350Z until 2009...so that means ill finally be able to make cars ahead of time, instead of fighting to keep up

now to reply to comments

@Nik: haha yeah its a bit of an oddball looking car, so thats understandable...i personally like the exterior (although the front could have been better), but the interior is a bit of a mess...and despite being fast, weighing 1790kg seems a bit excessive...

@paps: when i can ill try and write it step by step

@anexterv: for high-res renderings, the textures will need to be really big...mine are around 4096 pixel dimensions...since youre using Vray too, theres a little drop down menu in Vray: System that will say "Static", change it to "Dynamic" so that the textures dont start chewing through your memory

@S][M: any black CF GT or LM car looks cool

@Erik_S: awwwww tough luck

@RSR and T-Shine: thanks for them, i forgot about the press area, even though thats where i got all the stock pics from...i didnt think theyd be so open about the whole thing
