Yes the rim needs to be deeper. See attachment.

When comparing the render pedro highlighted, and the refpic hmg posted, it appears clearly that the bottom of the front bumper is off. Is this because bumpers are different from concept and production car ? Or is this just a mistake to fix ?

Thanks for the comments guys!

@Tom, thanks for the comments, and don't worry i wont be doing any texture work until I've finished all the modeling. Thanks again!
Your right about the Front bumper not matching the Photo posted, but the model matches up perfectly with the Blueprints i got from this site. I'll have to take a look into this!

@Pedro.malheiro, thanks for pointing out those problem areas. I had a bit of trouble keeping the seems on the front bumper so sharp. I will have to give it another whack! Thanks!

@hmg2007, Ah, i see what you mean now..... Thanks! I will definitely be confronting this problem.

Thanks again to all for your help so far. I really appreciate it.

More updates possible tomorrow. As I'm going to be formating my computer.

Don't trust blueprints. One can make a mistake when drawing a car. Much more difficult when taking a picture

Your right!

I've spent some time looking at My Renders and actual pictures of the Car, and there are few places where things are not right. I will most likely rebuild the front bumper, and use more refs, than blue prints.

Though I won't be able to do it for a couple of days... as I'm formating my Maya Machine.

Thanks again to all for the Input

More updates in a couple of days!

Very cool project, looking forward to more progress. tom is right when he say "don't trust BP's" - they are often bad/wrong and don't evne match proportions properly sometime .

The most famous examples you can find out about prints :
- The length of the nose, on almost every F40 print.
- The length of the rear, on every high-res DB9 print I found.

Once you are confronted with such inaccuracies, you never trust prints again. I was confronted with both :'(

UPDATE...... FINALLY

Well, over the last week we've had to reinstall our Computers, and reinstall all of the software, because our computers were simply just not doing it. We found a Virus on one, and the other just keeps blue Screening all the time....

So with all my time been spent away from Maya I've not been able to do any work on the Camaro. Now I've installed Maya on my computer (which can barely handle the Camaro scene.)
I've been able to pretty much finish up on all the modeling for this project.

Stuff Modeled since last Update:

Re-Build front Bumper!

Panelized the Rear end of the Camaro.

Practically rebuilt the Rims.

Built the Inner workings of the Wheels (brake Disks/Pads and all that garbage.) As well as Small Chevy Logs to mount on the Rims.

Built up the Rear Air intake.

Spent hours in PS learning how to create Disp maps from scratch. For the Tire Tread.

Built up the Gas Cap (In high detail)

Built the window wipers.

And some general tweaking!

Mostly stuff thats no to noticeable at a distance, but can make or brake a model..... or so I'm told!

Also i know that a few seams are off (i seem to have let them slip when i was rebuilding panels) So yeas i will be fixing the seams!

Anyway, enough blabber.... Pics:

Wheel with Displacement map applied:

(needs some cleaning up!)

Base Wheel Wire:

Some Clay renders of the Car:

Note: You may not be able to see much difference between these renders and the last. Partly because I'm using the same render set up as before (if it works why not?)
And because most of the progress that has taken place is small and fine detailing, and fine tweaking.

Theres still some areas that i might like to refine some more, but I'm nearly ready to call the modeling complete, so that i can move onto the Texturing, and rendering aspect of the project.

Anyway, C&C more than welcome

You have a pinch on the gap between front fender and bumper.

The rim looks good but there is a little hole at the extremity of each spoke.

The last issue I see is on top of the triangular part, outside the rear lights.

Otherwise, you're pretty done with modeling. Fix these issues, and you'll be able to start working on shaders. Nice work !

The rim is alot better now than before. Make sure you look at alot of ref pics to make sure that your mesh is right cause if you look at blueprints for accuracy then you'll mess up.Keep up the good work.

P.S. if you need the tire mesh message me I could send you the mesh.

@Tom: Thanks for the comments, and i had noticed the pinches in my seams, and later today (When I'm not so busy) I'm going to be cleaning up a few areas, and i will take your advice when doing so. Thanks again!

@Lewis: Thanks for comment! I will be cleaning up the glitches later today. Then i will start the texturing process. Thanks!

@hmg2007: Thanks for your Crit on the Rim before... i think the rim looks allot better now that i edited it based on your advise. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks again for the input everyone!

This seems to be the only site that response to my posts. At the other site where this car was posted, they all seem to ignore me... so i sure do appreciated the advise.

More updates later!

TINY...LITTLE...UPDATE:

Well, I've only just been able to get onto the Maya Computer, about an hour ago, and it's really late so I've not got too much done, mostly cleaned up all the Seams, as I had a couple overlapping, and awkwardly placed edges. here and there.

Plus I got the side indicators/Blinkers done.

Also got the outer edges of the Rims Fixed, as there was a hole.

Anyway, heres some Pics:

There just View Port screen Grabs, as it's really late, and I don't want to wait for ages for the Renders, just to show you a tiny Update.

Wheel with Rim Fixed:

Front Fender/Bumper Seam Fixed:

Rear Fender/Bumper Fixed:

Well hopefully I've managed to work out most of the bugs with my mesh, and tomorrow I will begin Texturing.

Oh, and if the rear Fender/Bumper Seam seems a too tight, well it's not. If you look at Photos of the Camaro you will see that, this seam is practically invisible.

C&C more than welcome!!..... Anybody????

UPDATE

Well, I've started the texturing process. I've set up a basic Studio Style, Render scene to test the textures.

I Still have allot more textures to create, and the studio style Render will most like, not be my final Render. I do plan on setting up some Funky Environment Scene, with HDRI and all that good stuff

Well, heres some Renders of the texturing thus far:

Still a long way to go :?

Well, More Updates coming soon!

C&C more than welcome!

That renders look impressive. Your model have some bumps & pinches to fix, but I'm sure you already see them.

@Tom: Thanks for the feed back, and yeah theres a couple of areas that need a tiny bit of tweaking, but I think I've got most of that now!

UPDATE:

Well, Heres the Studio Renders that I've been working on today!

I've finished all the texturing, Though a couple of shaders could use some work! But this is pretty much my first attempt at Rendering!!! Before the Camaro I had never really gone near Mental Ray, and now that i have... I can see it has some potential, BUT It's done nothing but give a Headache.... I've spent hours setting up shaders, Node networks, and Lights.... With GI, Emitting hundreds of photons.... FG.... and loads of AA settings..... BLAHHHHH!!! It's a NIGHTMARE!!!! And thats before the long wait for it to Render..... When you realize you forgot to turn on a Layer!!

Anyway, these Renders are a bit dark, But what the Hell!

Anyway, PICS:

Anyway, C&C More than welcome, though I'm pretty much ready to call this done. I will most likely try and set up an Environment Render...... we'll see!

Thanks again for all of your input thus far everybody!
