@tomsullivan: I think it really all depended on the car back in the 50's and 60's. Like the early mustangs were pretty much half a frame welded on to the inner body ( there's no such thing as a frame off restoration for a early mustang ). Then u have a small car like the healey thats just basically a engine seats and wheels, so they had to build a strong frame around it to keep it from tearing itself apart. Dont let the frame fool you though the healey is a very small sports car.
Im probably going to work on a few more things that bolt onto the frame such as pads and brackets, but then my next step is to start on the rear axle.

Thanks for your comments, and I cant wait to see more updates of your viper!

@tom120934: Thank you sir! I'll try to keep updates coming.

Here is three new renders with a few different settings

The black one is unbelievable. Put it in a real scene with proper lighting and it will be really realistic. Congratulations !

Nice progress you have made on the frame work...but perhaps you can use a more neutral background like grey when you show off detailed renders like there as black tends to hide a lot of details in between.

The suspension work is really nice, and the parts fixing it on the yellow render are pretty well realistic. Keep us updated, you're doing great !

It looks damn good. Excellent modeling and excellent rendering, that's a killer work.

PS : I think I will repeat myself more than a few times in your thread. So be prepared.

I definitely like your lighting. Can you post a schematic of the setup ?

Nice work, the only little problem I see is the traversal of the axis through supports on suspension : you should add some detail there.

definatly keeping an eye on this, checking this topic every day!!

i was always surpised at the limited frame the camaro had, front and rear frame not joined, but i surpose there this a lot of steal in the body to stiffen up the car.

keep up the great work!!

If you can turn, your not going FAST enough

Tom, My lighting setup is shockingly simple. It consists of 2 vray lights, 1 one on each side of the model. One of the lights is giving off a standard White color with and intensity multiplier of 6.0 and the other is giving of a sun yellow/orange (#RGB: 254:231:190) color with an intensity multiplier of 4.0. (See ScreenShot.)
Then of course there is the render settings and materials im using.

No need for complicated things to produce great results. Thanks for that piece of information, it's valuable for any VRay user (which I am not) and useful to any other that loves your work (which I am)

Wow, don't know how I've missed this thread... but your work here is absolutely fantastic. Hope that you keep with this level of detail for the entire project.

I will surely be watching this from here on. Excellent work!

Ouch this is a hit!
Sorry to repeat the joking words but -- i hope i am still alive when you get to the body modeling...

And wow what a cool result from such a simple lighting setup.
