VW T1 1974
This is going to be my second model. I desided to make my dreamcar.
So consider this as a beginners work. I know that many have built this car before but I wanted to do this myself for practicing-reason. Here the progress of my first day of work: The Beginning: ![]() Few Details added: ![]() Bumper complete, First Tests with headlights: ![]() Front slightly reshaped to make it mor acurate and door added ![]() Side-Panels added. Windows will be cut in later: ![]() |

I got to agree with Johnas, mesh is bumpy but the shape is looking good. Keep it up.

Thanks for the advises. Most are helpful and go into the model!
Todays Work: - little improvement on the "bumpy" parts, - modelling of sidewindows and Frames at the doors and Safari-Windows in the Front. - removing glossyness for 5 % on paint-colors ![]() |

Updates look a bit better, but to get good critique's you gonna need to show some clay renders and wireframe shots.

Here are a couple "problems" that I noticed.
I may be wrong about a couple of these, but hope it helps. *Oh, I just noticed, it looks like the VW logo on the front is sticking out a bit too much http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/5...ethingshz7.jpg |

Thanks for your advices. The "bumpy"-area at the doors is my main concern. Still don't know how to solve that problem. The VW-Logo is just as wide out as it is supposed to be:
![]() I already improved the "hard line" at the bumper, but I will take a look at it again (damn symetry....) I will leave the area underneath the front windows as it is, becaue it is quite accurate. There are two bumps underneath the window-wipers and somehow the angle of my rendering gives the impression that the entire front is bumpy, but it isn't... You will see in further renderings. |

I agree about the bumps. You have another issue : the middle of the car should be smoother than it is. Be sure the edges very close to the middle plan are orthogonal to it.
Please post wires and clay renders, it will be easier to track bumps. You should focus on modeling at the moment, and keep the shader work for later. About your shader, I think there is way too much specular reflections : all of your surfaces look wet. But I agree with above comment about your headlight : they look very good. Keep it up, and keep us updated ! ![]() ![]() Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster Previous : Marcos 1800 GT (60's winner), Ariel Atom II (LightIsRight winner), SuperSeven (WZA #4) See my work and my tutorials on www.thomasbaron.net |

Nice car! I´m not familiar with it but look at the picture below... something is wrong with your front-proportions !?

@ strg-alt-del
Depends on the angle you look at the car. The picture you posted shows a bad angle and white background, so the nose looks way too flat. Thanks to your advice, I found a picture of a perfect sideview and according to that picture, I flattened the nose a little bit. @ tom120934 I got rid of the bumps in the bumper (finally!!) but the original nose has indeed a small, hardly visible bump over the VW-logo. I will adjust the colors and reflections when the model is finished. Right now these are just testrenderings. ![]() More pictures soon! |
