1986 Golf MK2 GTI (8V)

Hi everybody,

It's has been a while since my last post on this forum, although I continue to browse the great works in progress.

I let my F 308 aside (my nickname was Gilloo but I can't use it anymore...) and started another project . So here it is. I will surely come back to my Ferrari later, but for the moment I focus on this one.

I am currently working on the bumper and front.

C&c welcome

Really amazing work so far. I think that the lower front splitter is a little bit to round. On refpics you can see that the line is more straight.

But the rest of the model looks fine to me

Well, I completely agree with Prykie : really nice work here. About accuracy, we have great fan of VW here, so you'll get useful comments for sure.

I especially like the second kind of rims you modeled : they look as cheap as the real ones, and I don't say that to mean your work is cheap

Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster

Front spoiler caught my eye too, rest looks awesome. Would be nice to see it with those second rims and with rusty look ^.^

@all : thanks for the comments

@tom : these rims are the ones I modelled for my MK1 Rabbit GTI and were not the VW cheap rims, these are the ATS Cup rims that were on the Oettinger version (this model was sold only in France so less known I guess, it was the first Golf with a 16V cylinder head, and had 136 HP for about 900Kg ).

But I'm not offensed without material, they look like cheap rims

I'll try to post some wires too so you can comment on my mesh.

EDIT : to precise what I said here is a render of the rim

Great work, very good detail, about the first shot it did look too round, but either way I'm sure you will be kept on track at this forum

I'm sorry I offended you about the cheapness of the rims. What I mean is, they made me think to that kind of rim :
http://i23.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/97/8b/6499_1.JPG

That kind that is usually used on low end cars or for spare wheel.

But I'm definitely no VW specialist, so I never heard about the Oettinger.

Here is an update on the front bumper and spoiler (still need some work, still not straight enough as Rob said)

I also added some wires.

Hope you enjoy it.
