Senna Mclaren, 1st attempt at composite
Like the title says, this is the first time I tried to do a composite render. What do you guys think?. I don't know if I'm doing this properly. I attached my rendering setup (3rd picture). I plugged the background picture to the perspective camera, created a floor and assigned a "use background" material to it but in the 2nd render, the checkered finish line and the "Salut Gilles" aren't being reflected into the car.

I agree with previous comments. The model is nice, composition work is technically good, but the lighting (and maybe also the shaders) of your scene doesn't match the background photo.
You should try to render a simple object instead of the whole car to test different lighting settings to find one matching the background. Apply the object a shader that mimics a material in the background, like the white wall on the left. Keep us updated, it's a really good choice of project. ![]() ![]() Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster Previous : Marcos 1800 GT (60's winner), Ariel Atom II (LightIsRight winner), SuperSeven (WZA #4) See my work and my tutorials on www.thomasbaron.net |

Ok guys, I changed the shader for the main body. It's now a layered shader with a lambert color on the bottom and a gloss on top. I also figured out how to make the racetrack reflect onto the car. I mapped the floor with the background picture using a perspective projection.

Make the reflection a bit blurry and add some noise to the reflection. The track isn't made of glass you know.
And you could try making it fit more into the background by making the hues of the car more like those of the background... you can see that the background is slightly greenish (even the parts which are supposed to be pure grey) and the car is a bit purplish in comparison or something, making it stand out. Tweak around with the materials and I'm sure you will soon get it right. |
