well after pulling my hair out trying to get a half way reasonable render ive gotten this far.

any advice on what im doing wrong would be appreciated seems i just cant get the right lighting or something, im using 3d max 9 and vray.still havent got a clue in doing the marker light lenses or headlamp bump yet but lokking for a couple tutorials.this is what killed me on my dozer so now im trying to make a effort to get past this hurdle . this is my first real attempt at anything like this

thnks et i played with the light positions a but and upped them just a tad this is the result

its startin to get closer .

Ah, thats getting better, but imo brighter still!!! One thing is the red paint, it seems to have quite a bit of ambient.

yea that red is giving me a headache just cant get it right maybe its time to try a different color lol

very nice details, u gotta work more on the renders tho, try to save your renders as png instead of jpeg for better quality then convert it back to jpeg in photoshop

yea im trying to get a handle on the renders but its a pain lol. im mostly model for games never had to do a render like this. ive decided to spend some time in photoshop amd try my hand at adding some lettering etc and give my brain a break from figuring out the render lighting and materials

I would play more with lightning. Right now you have a bright day enviornment with a sunset light. And at sunset the shadows are soft not dark.
