2006 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster

Final rush for the 60's contest is over, it's time to start a whole new project.

Enough of british cars, enough of lightweights. It's time for muscle, lot of muscle, and lot of horsepower !

My goal for this project is to model as detailed as I can. Not every single nut and bolt, because I doesn't have access to some kind of assembly / dissambly guide, but at least the most detailed model I've done ever.

For a short time I considered learning Rhino just to give NURBS modeling a try. But I don't really want to afford the license, and I don't want neither a trial time-limited version nor a warez software. So I'll stuck to Blender, and will try the new develoment branch of Yaf(a)Ray, the successor to YafRay (because YafRay doesn't work any longer with newest Blender, 2.46)

Also, alternate goal is to create my own shaders : no reuse of previous shaders is possible, because of the new renderer, and no use of a off-the-shelf shader library, because none exists yet !

Not so much done yet, only poly cage to make sure to get the volumes right. Now, I have to decide from where I'll start modeling.

Edit : changed 1st picture attached here to update thread thumbnail.

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate.

Eric_S, thanks ! Without any limiting timeframe, I guess I can really improve my work. At least I hope

janusz_the_maker, I just doesn't like the LP540, I prefer the regular Gallardo. Speaking about a Murcielago, I always had in a mind a Roadster instead of the coupé. Go for the LP640 to be extreme !
About JabbasWorld/MotorWorld, I already know them. I already browsed the ~66 pages and so much : 360 refpics for about ~70MB.

pedro.malheiro, thanks !

blindacideye, thanks too !

Here is a first part, the engine hood. Really lovely shapes, the start of the modeling is really a pleasure.

good start tom, just a suggestion bc im not sure what the actual car looks like as far as the grill goes i would add more holes into the grill mesh, make it a little denser but definitely good start, very clean

ColdFlame, you're right. I fixed it.

Nik, too much British car on last projects. I'll be back there for sure, DB9 will not stay unfinished.

Erik_S, thanks !

blindacideye, I think you're right, I'll double check that.

pedro.malheiro, thanks ! More is below

janusz_the_maker, thanks !

Here's an update.

edit : bugfix on the Lamborghini rear logo.

Thanks for comments !

Yes Prykie I keep it going, just see below please.

nzjimmy2001, thanks. I moved from YafRay (version 0.0.9) to its successor, a complete rewrite named Yaf(a)Ray because YafRay is no longer maintained and so the 0.0.9 wil be the last one. Main settings for Yaf(a)Ray are resumed at bottom of pictures.

spitty3d, thanks ! Not perfectly accurate, I should already open a todo list

Here's an update.
