looks pretty nice so far. I'm not incredibly familiar with this car's shape, but it seems to be accurate from what I can tell. Keep it up!

Looks really good mate, I can see a few pinches on the corners or the indicator lights you might want to have a look at.

Cheers guys, Yeah I'm aware of those pinches, just keep forgetting to do them something to do right now then :]

As for the shape im pretty happy with it, i feel there is something not 100% about the front but i will be taking a better look at it soon, im just concerned about getting all the small bits done and mainly the rear.

Done the wheels, and some very rough interior, I don't think I will be bothering to go all out on the interior, ill be having slightly tinted windows so you can see the shapes inside.

I'm getting to the point where I'm about to call the modelling stages on this finished, so if you see anything wrong with it, something that you think could be improved or something that i have missed out, please go ahead and say it

So here's some images:

the wheels look a bit much like truck tires with their size and the tread pattern... other than that, I'd say the thing is pretty good so far. It's a shame not to have any more of an interior though

@MMM, yeah I thought that as well when looking at the tires again this earlier, i have updated them below, though there isnt any difference in the tread pattern, i have just lowered the height of the tread, and then rounded of the edges of the tire. I also thought that the tires are wide, BUT the tires on the actual car are quite wide and also tall (as in rubber from rim to tread. hopefully you can see what i mean with the attached reference image, but for sakes of making it look a little more reasonable i thinned the wheels down a little too.

I know the interior stuff is a bit of a shame to skip on, but its definitely something that i will come back on at a later date , right now i will have a huge project on my hands when i return to uni as i will be starting a short film, 100% on my own that's why I want and pretty much need to get started on that asap

@Johnas Thanks again, yeah i know the vents are a little rounded, iirc when i was making them they didn't really look right when square. ill take another look at them.

The car keeps getting better. However.. and I hate to finally realize this but that picture you showed made me realize your front is too rounded. If you want I can make a picture, but look at the turn indicator on yours and look at the one on the real car. It rounds off. The car overall needs more edge in areas. But I think for now what is bothering me is the front and the area I mentioned.

If you wouldn't mind, that would be great.

I have been having a go at working on materials, mainly just the car paint atm but I'm finding it hard as i have never done car paint and studio lighting properly before and its proving to be really tricky. i have had a look at a few tutorials but most arn't that great and/or are pretty dated.

So im using mental ray right now, with a lighting setup that ill attach and the MR car paint shader that is pretty much left as normal but with colour changes. most of the results have not been that great at least i don't think anyway.

The first is in a enclosed dark studio wall with little reflections and the final image is the same as the second but a slightly open roof and more reflections.

I have Vray but i have never used it before and its insanely confusing after knowing MR so i havnt really tried that yet...

The look of colour that i am going for is similar to:

Loads of help appreciated guys, thanks again.

very WIP renders:

if you're wanting a studio render, you need to mimic how the studio lighting would be done. I'm not sure the illuminated objects in your scene would ever be used as lights in a studio photo

I'd suggest looking for pictures showing how the studio is set up for lighting, then try to duplicate that

Been doing quite a few Vray tutorials today, very confusing at the beginning but I'm getting somewhere at least.

here's a front and back render, how do they look? and what can i do to improve them?

set-up just basically just a bowlish shape, with two Vray lights (one stronger than the other) and a very dim skylight with FG on.

still WIP renders and some bits are not properly textured at all, im just tweaking things randomly as i go along

is there a way to make those lights not reflect so badly apart from lowering the car paint reflectivity?

thankayouuuuuu
