i can only speak generally about making prints from refs. if you're just tracing the pics, you'll end up with perspective and them not matching. to start with, you should make sure they're symetrical across the centre (though there could still be perspective it's the fastest way to test). otherwise it's just a lot of tweaking to make the views match up. i hope you can pull this off cuz those prints would rock.

dissaster ... keep in mind, what's shown there are hardly blueprints. there's an extremely high amount of perspective in them; so much perspective that I don't know if I'd even be able to figure out a perspective-free view of the vehicle. But yeah, if you still want to keep using those pictures, I'd suggest to use the top view to determine how much things should stick out in the front, back, and side views.

you could try camera matching with a bunch of ref pics and using that as quasi-prints.

Indeed very nice work here.

crazy989, it looks like it deserves a topic on its own !

janusz_the_maker, it looks clean and smooth, great job so far. But you have to fix the rear badge : Lamborghnini ??? Otherwise, you can post lowpoly work here : http://www.smcars.net/forums/work-pr...working-4.html (same topic but intended for lowpoly work)

Here's my current side-project, some kind of contemporary city, intended to test several things :
- Convincing outside lighting with Yaf(a)Ray : my only work with Yaf(a)Ray, the LP640 Roadster clays, is just a fake : no GI, just ambient-occlusion. So I had to extra work to achieve something good with good lighting algorithms from this renderer.
- Convincing shaders with Yaf(a)Ray : again, only did clay renders so far.
- Possible scene for final renders of a car : I'm tired of using HDRI or poor studio setups.

Golf III and Viper RT/10 models aren't mine, they come from here : DMI car 3D models. Thanks to their respective authors (by the way, many thanks also to the people behind this site : astonishing resources compiled in a very convenient place !!!) So as you see, there is not much left of me within this

How I could hurt my Baby ?! Incredible eye Tom
About Low poly topic, I didn't noticed it is there Sorry

Your city looks pretty nice, but something is wrong or your render isn't optimised yet 'cos 12 minutes of rendering pretty simple scene, it's pretty much, especially for almost same PC as mine (C2D 3.0Ghz, 2GB DDR2 GF8600GT)

Cheers Tom, and come to our funky IRC channel sometimes

images of progress on my rig

It seems wierd that we will be blowing this rig up after about 10 seconds of animation......should be effective
.... also, I must extend thanks to classmate Ben who introduced me to this site, and modelled the wheels for the rig......

Projects I'm working on, when I'm not gaming or drawing cars on paper, are the next:

Mercedes Vision CRK ''C198''

HDM CLR-GTR, on hold for the Vision CRK, no published progress.

Nicely modelled, but imo the car itself is horrible to look at.

I think especially that 911 needs work, the headlights really need a bit more polies to make them look more round, and the rearwheel is imo too much inside the car

In this context not too sure of your definition of 'especially' but I certainly agree that the headlights are kinda chunky for the 911.

I'll check the inset of the rear wheel.

Thanks for the pointer.
