3D Studio Max smart "for two"

I almost don't want to post this because some of the work here is so amazing! I want to say thanks for the blueprints though so here's a smartcar for two.

Done with studio max and mental ray. It's not finished but it's taken about a week thus far. I usually do organic modelling so this is my first car. Fun parts were cutting out the headlights with booleans and the tires as well. I used a shellac for the car paint with hdri reflections.

I'll post wire if someone wants it and more pics until it's complete.

hmm so how do i do a car mirror material? It reflects fine when i take it out of the mirror assembly but when i stick it in there it just turns the color of the paint.

Create a reflective material, Make it Black and Diffuse Black and Turn up the reflections for a nice mirror!

Overall, good work. Nice rims, though the material looks funny.

I would like to see some wireframes please.

i spent a lot of time making it look funny! hehe

here's the reference, I started off with more of an ordinary chrome but I had to crank down the reflections and the specular and add in noise to the diffuse to get that. it's got a raytrace refl of a beach on it but it's turned down most of the way. Hopefully I got the nice green spec highlights.

I like your saleen.

here are the unsmoothed wireframes. the headlights were a really challenging shape to make perfectly rounded and contoured. I used a boolean to cut out the hole, that's why the meshsmooth is collapsed on the front of the car, and then I went in and repaired the mesh afterward as much as possible. Then I conformed a plane to the surface for the glass.

Any tips?

This looks very nice, the structure is from what I can tell clean ( though its mixed in the wire shots) Ive never really cared though for that method of doing tread, seemed to tedious. Anyhow so far it looks like a great progress.
