Welcome to the forums!
Model looks ok to me so far, i do not know the R8 in detail tho so you'll def have more c&c from people, lol.
To do a wire frame render if your using max set it to Mental Ray or what ever it is, lol and make one material slot a composite and in another material slot just click wire so it become a wire frame. Then just drag the wire frame mat in to the first slot in the composite mat. Hope that makes sense, lol.
Edit - All tho for your first car model it looks too good, you sure this is your first car?

nice work for a first
buut, you want to make the poly spacing as even as possible. and it should flow better with the shape of the part. keep that in mind.
also, you could just attach the pics here in THIS forum

Uneven polyflows caught my eye too, could you show unsmoothed wires aswell?
and indeed don't hesitate to use our attachment system

Ok, here are some unsmooth renders. Oh, and the only reason I was using photobucket was because its easier to post my work when I'm posting on multiple 3D sites. I'll use the attatchment system here though, if everyone is more comfortable with that.

Wires looks nice expect those uneven polyflows, they will cause some funky reflections so I would make them as even as possible Theres also small dent on the top of the front headlight where it bents to the fender

Is that dent on the fender or the hood? And what is the best way to correct the plyflow? Do you think I will have to redo some pieces? Such as the bumper or something?

No need to remake stuf. Just merge the two polyrows you have there.
Looks good!

Another update. I worked a little on the roof. I'm going to start working on the hood like NightEye showed me.

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to model out the license plate area and tail light section. For the tail lights, I'm basically just trying to put a seam between the lights and trunk. For the license plate area, I tried extruding back those polygons and then chamfering the edges, but it doesn't come out right in a render. What would be the best way of going about this? Should I just delete those poly's over the lights and modeling them out?

Just model around it, making sure it's smooth. Don't be afraid to use more polies if that's nessecary.
This is not the way I would have done it, since LightWave supports tri's without problems, but Max can't.

Thanks for the input NightEye. I took your advice and was able to make it work with a few more iterations in turbosmooth.

Well, it's been a while since I last worked on this. Here are a few renders. Just a rough draft of the rear bumper.

I decided to take a break from the bumper for a little while and started on the doors and the rest of the taillights.
