No wheels - Jeanneau Runabout 755

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure that boats are allowed on the forum but I've not seen any rule about what models SMC allows to present.

So, I will present a model of Jeanneau's Runabout 755 and if this is not allowed, just tell me

Here are the blueprints I got to begin and some ref pics.

Edit : I forgot to tell that I'm working with 3DS and Vray.

As you can see, blueprints are not very precise...

Anyway, here is the start.
I did no wireframe at the moment, but I will.

It's ok to post this kind of work here. SMC needs some less than 4 wheeled vehicles ;P
So go on with it
EDIT: Didn't mentioned that you just posted some progress
So, it looks ok, tho I was expecting some nice details. IMO boats aren't so complicated (if compare to some cars) so they deserve to get some details.

Of course it's OK, especially when it's a beauty like it ! I'd really like to create a CG boat one day. I thought of the Wally Power 118 (Wally) but it may be overkill

I'm not sure about your glass, there is too much distorsion on the border. Either they're too thick, or you need to tweak your shader.

Keep us updated !

Thanks for the allowance

These renders was the beginning, I did not think to post here before this week (I work sometime but not continuously). So you will have a big part of the progress at once.

@Krystian : I thought that too, boats will be OK, but it's not so easy after all...
Details are coming

@tom : I've never seen that Wally before, it makes me think to the TV show Caraïbes Offshore (Thunder in Paradise) with Hulk Hogan
But definitely a good boat to model.

@Synetearis : I tried to make some renders with something like water but not really good.

Details now

I agree about the wally looking like Hulk Hogan's ride Except it's not that kitsch...

Your model looks nice. Which renderer did you use for those clays ?

And finally, I'm there for now.

Still need to work on the underneath to add some details and correct errors.

Will post some test renders too.

It's almost realtime topic here

I've got a critic for you, the areas I red-painted don't look as clean as the rest of your model.

Yeah, it does look wrong on the renders, I've just checked and nothing's wrong except that the dashboards are not welded with the rest of the model. My clay material may be a bit reflective too. I'm also using HDRI lighting so shadows may look bad.

Or perhaps I don't understand what you're pointing exactly.

And the first test renders

Here are some wires of the pointed areas.
You can see that it's not very clean, triangles, quads and more...

It looks ok to me. Must have been rendering artefact. Any chance to see render with higher quality settings for lighting ?

No, this is my first one. I was originally planning to model a sailboat but did not find any pleasant blueprint, so I finally looked at motorboats and find this one.

Here is another render with higher quality for tom, another one of the cockpit is calculating.
The wireframe is not so interesting as I did not disable the turbosmooth but...

Is there a way to disable the turbosmooth modifier on all the scene objects at once? It would interest me.

WOW! When i first started looking at this i thought there is know way hes gonna do this. But wow this is amazing, detailed clean smooth just like the image.Keep it up.But also instead of taking a render with it looking like turbo smooth is on go to were your modifier list and go into the turbo smooth applied to the boat and select isoline display. Then render and see what happens.

@tcsgraphics's : thanks for finally believing in me

Thanks for the isoline tip, but this is not helping me as I would have to do that on each object of the scene. This is not faster than clicking the bulb of the Turbosmooth modifier and is does not show the real wireframe.
