wow, I'm really glad I started this topic. Really nice rims here, and some begginers rims that aren't so bad. We could even elect 3 best rims ????

Anyway, just to mention, I don't use any tutorial either.
About that chrome material in Brazil: you have to tweak it a lot to get a nice rim material. Try adding some HDRI... that helps a lot. Or just model a scene around your rim. Another way in Max is making brushed metal material with procedurals....

anyway, keep posting....

Made a new render, 8 rims, 3 different styles

2,6million polygons, took 4:21hours to render
Material is Brazil Chrome.

Oh, and on the rims, except the middle ones, the spokes stick out of the outer rim, just didnt know then how to make it 1 piece with the outer rim

1600x1200 render

here are my latest ones. all done in ZMod, one rim is no higher than about 600-700 polies, made for a game. the spinners arent done, and arent my first ones. and yes, they will spin ingame, just like in real life. and i made these off the top of my head, no prints or ref pics.
