Incase you didnt notice he IS building the "whole" car, just piece by piece

That's also how i do it now, detail is king.

yeah... holly cow

thanks for support you guys! It really means everything to me!

my comp? P4 2.4ghz... 1GB ram... ati 9500 + voodoo3, 18"LCD, 18"LCS, 21"CRT... standard package - not that triple monitors help in maya (on 9500 sec. menus dont work nor popup-menus... on voodoo i can't get picture to refresh....)

somehow... the front part it doesnt fit - i think everythhing came out to small (too bad i got only 1 'under the front hood' photo)

I dont think you can learn by my wires - they are totally messed-up - i'am still learning.... but for all you wire lovers - i'am saving them from time to time:
http://djhabix.intelcom.si/tut_clkgtr/wires/

anyway... here's a small update. don't say nothing about shaders, since i don't know what i'am doing (only testnig some materials)

(something strange is happening on brake discs... still didn't figure it out)

p.s. - is it realy possible to model anything in poly without boolean operations?? (i'am pretty sure not in maya & not with bevel functions... LOL)

exellent work man! and it may just be me, but the wires do look 'real' if you get me. not talking about the textures, but the models themselves...

This is coming together really really nicely. So um do you remember what tutorials you followed to accomplish what you have so far. I am a noob in this field of computer art. I like how your doing every detail possible. It will make the difference between real and fake. Hope to see this thing finished soon.See ya

Thanks for c&c!!!!

Forsaken Brolly: the wires look ok from far if you look closely.... hehe (but they are getting better by the day)

MAXXX: i never tryed that before, but from what i've learned so far, it's tooooo many polys for any video card to handle. Maybe some one will reduce poly's when i'am finnished, and make a game model.

whitsonracing: Tutorials? Hm.... Gnomon poly modeling DVD & Ford Focus - Maya Tutorial... Then some bits & pieces from lots of other tutorials.... (after you learn to make some basic objects from primitives it gets quite easy to model such details - but only experience can produce 'clean' wires)

I will post some more updates after job.

Thank you again.

Forsaken Brolly:

Verts:199201
Edges:392182
Faces:195310 (growing by the minute )
Tris:388564
UVs03580

I think that explains why i'am not making a game model...

update coming soon (researching HDRI)

I really like the suspension, but where are the brakedisc calipers? It can't brake now

But the body is way off compared to the real GTR, its all way too smooth, and those headlights are very weird, the smallest one is like this (from the side) / the other one like this |
They should all be like this /

Hope this helps

SuB-ZeuZ: Thank you for c&c ! I'll make brakedisc calipers later since i'am making the whole shell from begining (mesh was to dense too dense for manipulating... now, with 2 months of knowledge in modeling, i'am ready to give it another try with smooth proxy - before there was no low / high poly version... just dense, fuzzy mesh)

I'll try to post some pictures on my progress today.

Very Nice!

I love the model! Great detail, you haven't fallen into the trap of fudging things to make them fit.

Only two (minor) things, the headlights are weird, and the material is just too damn shiny! It makes the detail in the roof and rear almost impossible to see. But this is just a "move a slider and it goes all good" problem.

Great to see another maya modeller out there, I've been practicing for a year or so now and you're sure as hell better than me!

Good luck!

seekerr: Thank for c&c.

Lately i have no time to model, but my vaication starts at end of this week, so you can expect updates then.

I've started rebuilding chasy from blueprints... since my mesh was too dense
