WIP: Low Poly Saleen S7-R
Well. I do models for NR2k3. The other night I became a bit sleepless so I decided to work a little on the Saleen. The only prints I could find here were spline renders, and for some reason I could not get that stuff to line up. So basically I only used them as a very basic guide, and did the rest of the modeling using ref shots from the net.
The downfall of cars in NR2k3, is that the body needs to be between 800 and 1400 polys. (Not including the interior or chassis parts. So my first rough model is about 1750 polys not including the temp wheel wells, and taillights pictured. I need to work out 300 polys somewhere but the modeling is pretty rough on my first pass so ditching 300 polys shouldnt be an issue. ![]() " ife beats down and crushes the soul but art reminds you that you have one." ~ by unknown

WIP: Low Poly Saleen S7-R
Thanks guys.
Like I said this first pass on the mesh is rather messy, but here are some wires. Unfortunately, if anything it will LOSE detail. Like I said in its current state it is about twice the "recommended" poly count for NR2k3, but I have gotten away with 1400 poly bodies before. We have some excellent template creators that can really flesh out these low poly models and make them look outstanding. PS. Those wheels are textured. Everything in NR2k3 is horribly low poly. you could pretty easily save some polies in the fairly flat parts of the front-middle and rear-middle.
the mesh looks well laid out, all it really needs is for you to go and tweak all the verts to make smoother curving and flow. |

well, since i help out on those DTM cars for NR2k3,i wanna post my opinion....maybe you can delete a lot of areas like suggested in the middle of the car,as well on the door, could save a lot of polys...other than that, accurate model, just needs a nice texture and maybe some 3d frontlights, would add a lot to the whole look

Well a few of the "extra" polys are needed in there for use in damage modeling. If the hood is completely flat, then it will be difficult or impossible to create a decent damage morph.
However, the flat areas, and the tail will most likely be the places where polys need to be cut. Like I said this is just the first mesh, built only to get the shape right, generally I build the second mesh over this with poly budget more in mind. ![]() " ife beats down and crushes the soul but art reminds you that you have one." ~ by unknown

well...is it in 3ds? if it is...I might be able to take your model and make it higher polied and then put it in NFS. Credit will be given (NE: I might actually model LM and WRC at the same time
)![]() I haven't been here in ages... |
