hehe thats very cool, sorry I missed this topic when it first popped up. ( On vacation) ANyhow, it looks cool. I love how you use the original chipped textures of the real cars. Especially that Wagon. Any Big rigs or Trucks in this movie? I had this one Matchbox Truck that I had when I was younger, it was a 4x4 79 Stepside with flames and a roll bar, err somewhere I still have it. No critque from me, I mean its hard to critque someones own creation. The cars look dead on accurate to there true life 1:64 scale cars ( I think thats there scale,if not my bad)

and hot wheels, matchbox, and majorettes, as well as any other similar "die cast mold mass produced vehicles" vary from size to 1:45 to 1 0.... so that's another thing I've had to do is check sites like msn's carpoint for real measurements of these things. So the mercury sable wagon, which is the same size as the rx-7 as toy cars, is probably a bit larger than the rx-7 as my 3d modelanyway, glad to hear my project isn't a bore to people just because it's low poly and using 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, or 256 color.gif files for textures, which are anywhere from 64x64 to 256x256 normally for dimensions... though the LO textures all are 32x32, 16x16, or 8x8 ![]() ... well, ok, the environment has those textures, the HI vehicles have full-color .png files, and certain grass textures have 8-bit png files where it would save file sizes... normally low poly stuff gets a bad rep ![]() ![]()

okay... small updates... with a few site related things.
Site stuff first. 1.) Are blueprints of hot wheels acceptable to upload here? I mean, they might not be as accurate as actual blueprints drawn from photos, but the basic shape of the car is still quite accurate. I was planning on uploading some blueprints created using these 3d models. If that is an acceptable blueprint format, should anything be stated in the blueprints, say for this car the title would be "1987 Matchbox Mercury Sable Wagon" or something like that... 2.) I will also be completing various train cars, and train engines. I see a train section, is that for just locomotives, or is it for train cars as well? I'm mostly getting the models made off of scale model railroading cars, so they should stay relatively accurate to their real life counterparts, so I figure why not create blueprints from those cars as well? 3.) Are we going to be getting an aircraft section any time soon? With an airport being a focus in my project, I would have at least 4 or 5 commercial airplanes, and 2 or 3 helicopters... or would they just be uploaded to the misc. section? or are aircraft blueprints even uploaded here? ... so yeah... now here's the picture of the almost completely finished 1987 Mercury Sable Wagon by Matchbox. The only thing left to do is make glow maps, and the geometry to support the glow maps, as well as rig the car for animation. ![]()

Its coming together now, it really looks good.
As for the blueprints, there are aircraft on here already, probably not toy ones, but, I cant see it being a problem, (Although its not to me, lol). After all, any Blueprints are better than none. ![]() Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!! |

alright... I just got done making the Airbus A300 blueprints today (you can find them under Blueprint Donation for now), and now I'm modeling the airplane in 3d for this project... I have decided that the airplanes do not have anything about them that's believable as the toy cars - the aging and cracked paint just don't make for a believable airplane, so I'm going as realistic as I can on these. Already noticing a few things different than the matchbox toy I have of this same plane. so yeah, the face count was 652 on this picture, but now it's jumped to 840 with the engines underway. With the total amount of detail going into this model, I don't expect to have any more than 1800 faces. The 'in flight' model of this plane is coming up next, before texturing... should be quite different... heheh so yeah, here's the image, with updates soon to come. I'll edit them into this post, so be on the lookout... --------------edit02-(attachment 2)--------------- okay, a wee tad more than my prediction, thanks to the landing gears, but 2084 faces ain't bad for a medium poly model... time for that "in flight" model now, and then a texturing I will go ![]() --------------edit03-(attachment 1)--------------- alright, final version.... don't think the face count is *too* high up there... ... anyway, on to texturing now ![]()

okay, I've got a bit more progress on this airplane... the first image is Motor City's own brand of aircraft, the second is an American Airlines brand... next up is delta, followed by united, then I'm on to some train cars, or the airport building itself, for a bit of variety.
Again, statistics are: 2058 faces total 1152 faces in the landing gears 906 faces in the plane body each "brand" of aircraft, (american airlines, united, delta, motor city, pan am) require just one 256x256 texture file -edit- got delta done now ![]()

Man, I wish I could texture like that!
Maybe one day you could do a tuturial on drawing one and mapping it on. Should be easy for you to find the time, I meen, what else have you got to do? ![]() ![]() Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!! |
