Concept Coupe/Type-R (3DS Max)

Thanks for all your comments. You guys have been a great help. Can't wait to hear more from you guys.

I just got 3DS max,(WOW hock: ) and went through some of the tutorials here and other places. I just want to thank all those people who made them.
After that i started experimenting and the end result is down below. Hope you guys like it. C&C are more than welcome. Since i model in rhino the conversion
was not made perfectly, but i have tried to fix it up as best as i could. My first ever rendering. I also have brazil.

well, nice start !

Maybe you should try to embetter the quality of your mesh when exporting in .3ds (or Are you using IGES ??)

Maybe try to consider a smaller value of the "Max Edge Length" when exporting from Rhino.

hey... i'am a n00b in render too.. but the space betwen lower edge of door and chasy seems 'jiggy' (its not bend or anything, just not solid color) - it could be the camera angle (or me).

Imo car would look better without top lights, and making these lights on bumper the main ones should make the car look more agressive...

But afterall it's only mine opinion, model is great anyway

Good to see you in Max, sorry I couldnt help with the rendering, but I just got errors when importing the model.

I think the "jagged edge" on the bottom of the door is a reflection of the white floor on the sharp edge.

Theres a line on the bonnet near the windsreen, is it a reflect?
Apart from that, absolute perfection!!!!

Thanks for all who helped with this concept. As for the line on the hood it
is something reflecting, not quite sure what though. I will try to expory
with a better mesh next time, The Rain Knight. And the white in the door
line is probably just a reflection, IMO.

I am about to start a new project to i would like to know if you guys have
any ideas as to what it should be. It would have to be some sort of
concept. An example would be a toyota supercar, or a BMW minivan,
something like that.
Always glad to hear your comments good or bad.

Wow, that 3DS render is awsome

but i have a comment, i think there is something wrong with the placing of all those airintakes.

let me explain. the big air intake in the back is usualy for a mid engine car. but.. the exhaust in het side of the car tells that the engine in in the front. the 2 scoops on the hood of the car, look like air outleds, to release the air that is used for cooling the brakes. the inled for that ll be the 3 big holes in the front bumper. but the exhaust tells that the engine is in het front of the car, but there wont be enough space left for an engine IMO

so i think its better to move the exhaust to the back of the car. so that it will be more like a midengine car.

good luck with your next project!! are you gonna model it in max to? or model in rhino and render in max?

Niels

Thanks guys. The car just didn't look good on the car, but maybe i didn't make the proper antenna. If you post some pictures i will model it.
The car has the porportions of a Ferrari 575 Marnello, or a Corvette. IMO these cars have very big engines. IMO the engine would have no problems
fitting into the engine bay. The car was always front engined and would have to stay that way if the car went racing.

Thanks for everbodys comments and help. My next project will must likely be modelled in Rhino and rendered in Max, the one after that will be in Max only, or as soon as i learn the program.

i think you misunderstand me a little the big inled on the side creates the illusion that the engine will be in het back. if this inled is meant for cooling the rear disk brakes, it shouldn't be this big. a bit smaler will do

and about the hood, the Ferrari 575 Marnello and Corvette and other cars like that, have air intakes on the hood, for cooling the engine. your hood looks like it has air outleds. so thats what confused me a bit.

Too many holes :/

And also exhaust (if it is exhaust) looks ugly and outta place, for me it should me on the back, as normal.

Most front engined race cars have side exhaust. I will try to fix all the cut lines in the body so that they are black when rendered. Mabye the car
has to many air intake/outlets, but as it is a concept I will let these minor details go unchanged. I want to go for a very aggresive look and i think it
was accoplished. The inlets/outlets are inspired by TVRs, while the brake ducts may also be a bit big. Thanks for your comments. Hope to talk to you soon, but will be busy for some time.

ok about the antenna

on the rear shot i draw where, IMO, the antenna could fit well.

on the other pic, i show you an antenna that mabye could fit not too bad on the car (but mabye with a betther "base". something with less angle mabye). if you like it just ask and ill send you a pic 10 times bigger wit hall the details
