Mini Cooper (Second Car)

A few days ago Freefall and me started working on a model of the new Mini Cooper. We're in the mids of the project but facing a big problem.

A rather strange thing occured when we rendered it with Brazil. As shown at the pictures below there's a strange recleftion on the roof :? and the carpaint has absolutly zero reflection on (which is weird because it was reflective before). Can anyone help us with this problem. Also crits and comments are welcome.

The red is reflection.. Just can't be seen that clear since it's so bright
As for the roof.. I've really got no idea what's causing that... But then again, I'm no max/brazil user...

The model looks good sofar Just a bit weird at the back (licenseplate holder etc)

I didn't chamfer the rear yet. We just put a white plane above it with a brazil utility material on it, 2 sided and unchecked the stuff at properties. The car just has a basic brazil material with a fallof map in the reflection slot with fresnel and 2.2 reflection. Then we have a skylight (with brazil settings) of 1.6 and white coloured and a ground plane with brazil settings.
Please help...

Yesh, the current lightning kinda screws the tyre proflie, it needs a better material so it will look more realistic.

I just hope your kidding about starting over.....
I know we're not "Experts" on modelling cars but this is our first real car.
It wil improve in the process and if you think this is inaccurate you should have see it at the start

i have to agree this model doesnt look that great and has a lot of bumps
i would start over too but its your project so do whatever you like
restarting projects can also improve way of approach/skill

We know, but when we never finish a project we'll never learn how to finish it. I know it's far from flawless but I have to learn it somehow, instead of saying: you should start all over, maybe you can say what's wrong. Cause all wich is happening now is that you're discoureging us.

Starting again is an option, but as you stated in your last post, Freefall, you then wouldn't learn to fix your mistakes.
Things to look at:

Look at the front headlights - they need to more oval shaped, and no bumps along the crome.

The crome strip which goes all the way around the car needs to be thinner, but also with a rubber backing with it.

Where you have the air vents on the front bonnet, they need to be slightly smaller and less 'rounded'.

There are a couple of others, but I think these three will greatly improve the overall look.

If you want any ref pics of certain parts of the car, let me know, as I've stated in my Mini Cooper S thread, I have over 150 of them.

Keep up the work, you have a good start which can be saved.

Dutchy.

Now, that's help

Thanks, we fixed pretty much already and I do see a lot myself. I knew it about those air vents and the chrome strip. We already fixed the door seems. I do use reference pics pretty much so. I'm not just doing it off the blueprints.

haha, you guys problably thought I gave up... that I would just quit, but I didn't. Took me while to get goign again, lots of other stuff going on. But here's a render of the car in it's current state.

PS
Jintonic, you were right there were a lot of errors in the car and I did redo a lot of it.

Work In progress

As a newbie to this forum I was wondering how accurate these models are to the real car? I’m looking for a model to do some prototypes for some production pieces, and I’d like to avoid having an actual car laser scanned or digitized. Ideally, I’d like to pull a model into my CAD\CAM software then send it right to the CNC. I'm looking for a model of an accurate BMW Mini Cooper.

Fine with me, but don't dig up old topics. You could make your own asking for a model.
