Hey guys, I just thought of this, how about everyone who can make awesome renders, post up a pic to go on the main SMCars site. There will have to be some rules set here.

1) Strictly a vehicle with a background.
2) Has to be a 3D Modelled vehicle you have done.
3) Has to have some kind of advertising on it saying SMCars.
4) Must be as low in file size as possible.
and
5) Pic/Banner can't exceed these dimensions. 730 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

If anyone can suggest a better image size, please do so. Soon as we get enough pictures ready, I will include them all on the main site in a random order. Everytime you visit the site, it "should" show a different image that you all have submitted. Just post up the pictures as you go along, there is no limit for how many you can post or submit, the more the better.

Sticky would be nice, no?

Got an idea:
a highly tuned car, on the side, on the bumper is written "SMCars.net"
...
then every thing you want

SMCars isn't all about tuning cars, we have blueprints of domestics and exotic cars... MIND YOU

Mind you that there is also blueprints of tuned cars  Promo doesn't have to be all 'tuned' up... i've seen some promo (stock) cars with decals over it... it can be stock with just SMC decal over it or something...

I really liked your idea envoy, so I dug up my old Fiat 127 model and "adjusted" it a bit ...

The size of the image needs to be adjusted I guess, but if you guys like it I'll do that later on, when we know what size we should have ? (the 100 pixles height is pretty limiting, but makes sense for a banner :? )

Anyway .. I just wanted to express my feelings for SMCars with this Fiat 127 "evo"

Awesome render daniel. excellent texturing and of course a very cute car.

I have to agree with Sn00py, smc is for me mainly a site that provide prints (non/and tuned) and a forum where one can get help, c&c or just show their art.

I seem to have tooooooooo many projects goin......

I've only done one model remotely good enough to contribute, so here goes

suggestions on how to crop somthing to 730*100 would be helpful (any specific angles required?)

Well, whatever way you feel the render would look good, make it look that way. Don't worry about anyone liking the pics, aslong as you like it, everyone here should not have a negative opinion about it.

that's a very nice 3609 Modena lackadaisical. I like the way the smcar.net text on the side has a Ferrari-style Nice going

Excellent!

Some more ideas - can't SMCars have nearly 2 banners? Envoy, can you make a random banner script? It would be great(!) - one banner for tuned cars and one for exotics

Sorry, I didnt notice this question until now.
The flames comes from the Total Textures Vol. 8 CD, a commercial product from http://www.3dtotal.com

Since I planned to only render the car from one view I just detached the hood and planar mapped it with a UVW modifier, and then I planar mapped the rest of car body as well. I used the plugin texporter to get a image of the UVWmap and painted on that.
