i've been having major trouble with maya (modeling), so i started learning max from scratch... i'am progressing verry slow, since i'am learning it to full details (quite diffrent UI, modeling, texturing, bump maps - all hand drawn...)

anyway... here's what i've managed to make in a month of learning:

can you tell us more about the material you used for you rim and teh one used for the black thingthat hold it? because they look soo good

Thank you! I have been modeling for some time in maya... but not so intesivly as now in max...

and sure thing:
for the rim i'am using a brazil car paint with some flake changes:


and for the swing arm i'am using shellac (2 shaders):
- 1.st a raytraced black phong with specular level set to 120, glossines to 85 and a fallof reflection mask
- 2.nd is a blinn shader with specular set to 125, glossines to 30, with diffuse color map set to gradient ramp, and specular color map set to noise (regular, size 0,05, heigh 1, low 0, levels 3, phase 0 and a tiling of 0,25)
well... i made a pic of it

it's a great start, but the nose (in the middle of the headlights holes) should be rounder and the back needs some sharpness on edges.

been bussy last 2 days... i have cut the poly count of bodywork to about 1/4 of the original mesh (now i have much more control over it), but now, i have to do some chamfering again...

now here is a question for max users:
i'am having trouble with object - i can't get rid of bounding box, that sorounds it... the bounding box shows when the object is selected, but on 1 obj. I simply cand get rid of it.... any ideas?

added render from back.... i really need a sharp eye now (some overall body critics would be great) ... nighteye maybe?!?

oh... the red paint has very light bump mask (was trying to get 'orange' surface effect... )
