WOW, thats a big improvement over the last car.

The rear looks cool now, but you need to work on your rendering and lighting! The car looks chrome dipped or something.
Use less brighter lights and more of them, to produce shadows, and light boxes for reflection.

Awesome job on the model though, you've moved forward in leap an bounds.

Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!!

Thanks for all the comments (and compliments).

The overly bright look is caused by three things (to my knowledge)
a) My HDRI maps are too bright and dull
b) My material is too reflective in most places.
c) My lack of experience in using the said HDRIs

The problem with fixing these is that I don't really have all that many HDRI maps, and one or two of those are even remotely usable.

The problem with the mat is that every time I try to make a new one, I have to wait for something like 30 min to render even a simple sphere (compared to 10 min for the material seen in the first renders for the whole car), which is too long for a test imho.

I'm doing a render without hdri now, will post it tomorrow after school though it's a bit big since it'll be my new desktop image (if it works out the way I want)

Well, the render didn't work quite as planned and I'm starting to feel like using Majestic's material soon

The signals are for some reason black and the glass that covers the headlights doesn't seem to reflect anything and thus is invisible.

I'll try to get the material right and make the front signals, if I figure out where to put them, and rear lights before moving on to the interior.

I'm making another image like this but with hdri now, I'll see how it turns out. I'll post it at some point after it's done.

Well, the HDRI one didn't work out, as my comp crashed after 8 hours of rendering

Now I'm using Majestic's material, it looks better than anything I could ever make.

So this is pretty much what the car body will look like once its completely done. (rear lights, front signals and those lights on the front bumper still missing).

No, I aint dead yet.

I started work on the interior today, MAX crashed after about an 1 hour of not saving.
So I started working on it again. Made just the very basic form of it. Also added are rearview mirror and front signals. The only things missing now are the rear lights and the doors to finish the body(and the soft top if I'll decide to make one).
It seems that the materials for clear signals are quite hard to make. So if anyone has any pointers on how to make them, I'd appreciate them (still using VRAY).

The seats will be redone if I ever find good ref. pics.

Anyone have any Ideas for the color, I was thinking about white but can't make one that looks even remotely good.

With any luck I'll be able to finish this during the holidays.

Looks like a tuned Z4 to me, nice model but, you should really change the front grill, and lights to call it your concept. Right now it's more like a body kit concept. :?

Well, the front grill is exactly same as my previous model, so that won't change. The headlights on the other hand, might change, 'cos they look like they do mainly because I have no other ideas for them, so it's just a matter of finding something I really like and modelling it.

eXodus: Could be. I really didn't go for that sort of thing, but I really like the look of all modern aston martins so it's very much possible that they have affected me in some strange, unspeakable way.

Thanks for the comments and keep 'em coming.

a very small update for those interested...

I made the rear lights now, still a few glitches here and there.

Also remade the headlights, though I'll be redoing them again once I really know what I want. So if anyone has any ideas what kind of headlights would fit the car, could you please tell me if it isn't too much trouble (just say the name of the car with the headlights or post a link to a pic of the lights). Thanks in advance.

Ps. Merry Christmas everybody

But I still think that it looks like a z4 for the following reasons only - front bumper, mask, front lights, rear lights, trunk... damn that's just about the hole car, guess you guys are right...

...So we can call it a Z4.5 , since this is just so much sportier imo.

Edit: added the pic

Finally did something about the interior.

All details still missing with steering wheel and shifter etc. etc. No materials yet either.

And one with the body for good measure

I'll make the seats again once I find good pics.

Nice interior It's different from the Z4 interior, so it's looking like a concept more and more.

A tiny update just to keep you... well, updated.

I also did something I said I wouldn't do, I "gasp" changed the front grill.
Now it's kinda one of those honeycomb things. Haven't made a front render yet so I don't really know whether its going to fit or not.

If anyone has any ideas for a name for the car name (preferably something beginning with an A), I'd be willing to listen (well actually read, but you get the idea).

My ideas thus far have been Aura or Apache (kind of prefer the Aura one since it fits my idea for a logo better).

Well yes there is.

But the thing is I can't keep it at 5 mins since that would completely kill my modelling 'cos it takes something like a minute for an autosave (dunno why, normal saves take so much less).

And also when MAX crashes, it's usually when it's autosaving (not every time though).

A material update mostly this one is.

I stopped using Majestics material and made me own. I've also made the interior materials. The seats have also been remade.

Also a bigger front render available HERE (the mask has been moved backwards after render)

The models aren't really up to date since I've been modelling a bit more today, I'll make a render during the night and post it tomorrow).

You guys agree that the new grill works better with the car?

I also have a name now, it's Avalanche.
