Amazing ! You manage to make us forget the lowpoly modeling. Great achievement !

One little critic however : the car is really too lowered, and the rims are too large for my taste. But as it's only a matter of personal taste, it's of course up to you to choose what to do.

thx for your comments tom!

I agree it is a matter of personal taste. When modeling the LS460, I was inspired by these companies and followed their style of car mods

couple examples:
LS460 Lexus... so Fabulous ! : Nihon Car .com
The "Aufzälhen treatment" for the Wald LS460 : Nihon Car .com
The Lexus LS460 by Wald International : Nihon Car .com

Pretty much the same render as the one from last page but higher res and no more nasty AA on the bodylines!

Model is great, render is awesome.
But these rims :/ I'd never put stuff like this on my car. Looks like the center is offset to half of the wheel width.
Rims on cars from links you posted look pretty nice. Why not make one of these?

That is one cool car!The wheels aren't my taste but the overall style is sweet.
Just sad that american carmakers like Chevrolet don't build V8 cars with RWD.
They just wonder why Lexus sells so good...stupid idiots!
Build a RWD Impala or Caprice but make it look cool and not scoccermom!

I would prefer this car even though I love US cars but look at this...

For sure I don't agree with you on the rim style and extreme lowering. But also, for sure I agree with the quality of your work and your render.

Keep it up, you're doing great !

Looks really sweet but I agree with the other about wheels and lowering.

woah... Very high quality model and textures from what I can see... Would it stand up to a 1280x960 render?

Any close-ups of your wireframe around your door seams would be sweet... (so I can pick your brain) lol

But yeah, I hope I can get my cars looking this good for my next project.

So what program are you using, and what did you do to correct the anti-aliasing issues?

This is why I keep asking myself - Why would anyone care for modeling highpoly ??

Render is wonderful and lighting & colors are peaceful. It needs a bit more contrast though.
Great work on composition!

Good luck on further progress, we all look forward to more updates!

And yes, You have to change wheels definitely!

Because it's just simpler It saves you a constraint, the poly budget.

PS : Niray, welcome in your new role ! Thanks for the effort and the time you give to SMC.

You're right, that's the reason why I've made only high poly modeling so far

multimediaman: I basically render a 1920x1080 resolution and the anti-aliasing issues are gone. also the edges are starting to become more visible. haven't texture the entire car yet, eg: body paint is just a shader, I only textured the lights for now.

I followed this tutorial for the bodylines.
Nissan Nismo GT-R R34 - Game Artist Forums

niray, tom, nublet: IMO, high poly and low poly are fun in different ways and for some, high poly modeling is a lot easier than low poly.

For me, low poly is easier because my computer can't handle a lot of polies on the screen and if you are modeling high poly, you should model the fine details (modeling the air vents for the interior etc) otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of modeling a high poly model! High poly modeling really tests someone's patience IMHO. I could model a high poly car body just fine but to actually finish an entire car is another question.

high poly modeling is a lot easier than low poly
Now you can't simply claim that highpoly is actually easier than lowpoly. Both require skill, it's just the matter of taste and dedication which one you'll go for. Both have benefits and minuses and there are many arguments for applying either one in modeling.
There are number of methods in highpoly for which it's much more suitable for modeling, but the same thing is with lowpoly.

You shouldn't compare these two so easily because you do know how hell modeling can be highpoly and I know you all can confirm this

Again, it's about taste, so it doesn't matter in which way you model.

Sorry for offtopic and I hope you will mind this post. =)

P.S. Thanks Tom!
