Hey all.
This is my weekend project. The plan is to make a low-poly Toyota HJ60 from the 1980s.
Also there is an idea that new 3d-modelers could learn from this how to start doing low-poly cars and to see how the poly structure goes.
Remember, this is just my way to do it.
Here is the start. I will be showing pics from the progress regurally:
Starting from a box: Using real car dimensions, I made the box. Real widh, height and lenght

Update:
What I´ve done now, is that I have cutted more lines using QuickSlice. Moving Vertexes (points) and also chamfering the rooflines, A-pillar and C-pillar.
Basically, just editing the box.

Update:
Here you can see what I´ve done now.
*Made chamfers around the side of the bonnet/fender
*Cut the basic wheel arch shapes using Cut tool in Vertex mode. You can see that I have not made any extra lines by cutting in the rear wheel arch. I just cutted my way out, just like cutting paper with
scissors.
*Making some basic lines for the front grille and lights using the same Cut tool in Vertex mode.
***************************************
Update:
See how I made the lines. In real car they are deep grooves. Yet again I cutted the lines by hand. Then I selected the polys so you can see what lines I mean.
After cutting them, then I extrude them inwards to make the groove. See the pic. I also had to do several tweakings and made some normals (dont worry about them in the beginning. I just made them so you can see the grooves)

Update
The hood.
Again, just cut and move operations.

Update:
The fender flare and the front lip.

Update:
This is the way to cut round edges. See how I made a new cylinder object with 12-sides. I used it as a guide to make the headlight.

Update:
And rest of the front is now detailed.
Total time spend on this car to get into that point: 2Hours

Update:
Done the windows and windshield trim. Just simple Inset and extrude jobs.

Update:
Door handles: Again, just using Cut tool to make the shape of the handle area, end then extruding inwards and out wards for the handle.
Also added a detail that the real car also has.
