yes, it's in the right area, but now you've got to push it outwards to smooth out the curvature of the surface

Im confused...

The prints I got says its a 1990 Virage, but it shows a Vantage and that camed 1993 in production, (showed in 1992).
Prints: http://www.smcars.net/forums/attachm...0vir-model.jpg

BUT on the side print it says Virage Vantage.

I aint stoping on this one, I like this one more then the Virage lol...

Anyway the Chassis of the Vantage is sorta the same, just lower and wider then the Virage and some minor changes like lights...
Virage:

Vantage:

So heh, Im making the Vantage and not the Virage so I guess this car is out from the contest...I feel stupid...I will go to the corner and feel ashamed of myself...

don't feel ashamed you took the prints from the name. the prints i got of the 83' vantage is actually a 70's vantage, so i have had to alter mine to build it into the 83 one. Like yours its just small differences

model is nice don't give up on it

if it existed in the 1990 model year wouldn't it still be eligible for this contest? can't remember what was said in the contest introduction thread. you shouldn't feel ashamed anyhow, it was an honest mistake.

I agree with RSR, you should try to identify the precise differences between a 198x model and your model, to see if you will be able to correct them within the context timeframe.

Don't give up now, you're doing a really nice job. And if it turns out you are no eligible any longer to enter the contest with this beauty, please continue the model because it deserves it.

According to astonmartins.com and Wiki:

Indeed, the Virage name lasted just a few years, with its final descendants inheriting the simple and familiar V8 name.

The design was freshened, leaving only the roof and doors of the car intact. The Vantage was wider, appeared lower, and used four round "grapefruit" tail lights. Like the 6.3, the Vantage used record-sized 362 mm (14 in) brake discs

Only the roof and the doors were carried over after the stylists John Heffernan and Ken Greenley together with Project Manager, Mike Booth, improved on the original. Even the Virage name was dropped leaving only the name Vantage - never to be confused with the early 70's car of course. Later variants were badged V8 Vantage which is even more confusing as then should not be confused with the 'real' V8 Vantage built between 1977 and 1989.
Im not going to stop on this one, I like it way too much, I might just get out from the competition and just finish this one, by the look on it I might even put it in GTA or something lol.

When I see what you achieved so far, I can't think you won't be able to turn it back to a Virage if you decide to do so.

Whatever you choose to do, I'm pleased to read that you won't give up. Keep us updated !

to me it looks like minor cosmetic changes are all...

Like modeling a 1990 Ford Taurus, then deciding to model a 1990 Mercury Sable instead.. or deciding to turn the model year from 1990 to 1993, with smaller headlights, a ridge around the boot lid, , and other miniscule changes.

But the choice is still yours. I'd say just square up the headlights, rework the front bumper's bottom, and remove the air intakes on the side, and you're there, but I'm not sure
