I like where you're going with this. Next time (or this time), try to do more planning before you make a concept car. I've tried to do one without planning it out, and it was a disaster. I'm not an expert, but a sketch can really help out, as can looking at real cars for proportions, how angles should work, ride height, wheel size, etc. I think if you raise the car 6-7 inches, change the proportion between the wheel and tire (a good trick is to get a picture of a wheel+tire combo from a real car and copy the proportions), add some slope to the hood, and shorten the hood by a 8-10 inches, and change that rear wheelwell, the design at least will look a lot better. As for cleaning up your mesh/ rendering better, hard work and a few tutorials are the best way to learn. This might screw up your whole idea, but what you have right now isn't feasible or necessarily good-looking. Just my 10 cents

My concept
I agree with Cumquat4. There has to be a clear path that is taken when making up a project car - this doesn't seem to be followed.
I would totally disregard the interior and engine at this point in time, it seems to be distracting from getting the body work all sorted. Ref pics of cars you wish to get design cues from are great and try not to make it too low poly at this stage. Once you get more experience and over time, then you can try to lower the poly count and maintain the critical elements needed in a great low poly model - Nighteye is one example of excellent low poly modelling. Things to look at one the body are: Front nose - it looks to be very long. Side doors - I can see how you don't want to have straight doors, but you need to work on a smoother and more progressive curves that then flow to the rear, to keep continuity. Rear of car - seems to be very high and not in proportion to the rest of the car - almost like a seperate module. Hope all these help Dutchy. |
