You should focus on accuracy and smoothing the most. If this is going to be a game model you will have to use smoothing groups. If it's going to be a rendering model, then you have to work on your chamfers (I think C4D calles them bevels?) so edges get sharp when applying meshsmooth.
On accuracy, it didn't take long before I noticed the headlight is really off. But that's an easy fix though. I think you're doing pretty okay, especially for your first model! ![]() Good luck with the rest, and enjoy your stay at the forums ![]() |

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
1st model... damn its preety good i would say. You might want to inform us if this is going to be a lowpoly game model or highpoly smoothed model so we can help out with your wireframe on the sides... like you asked. Main thing is you got basic body done... start to work on individual places... start to refine the mesh so that is starts to look more accurate and like the real car. |

yes I am making this to be a game model 1st try at that aswell
![]() I need to get better form in the nose and side pods..but they are nasty...esp the sides, what should I do, delete poly's there and restart? Last edited by NiTrO-EXILE- : 05-30-2006 at 12:09 PM. |

You could try and repair it, but sometimes just rebuilding that has more use
![]() That way you have a new chance to do it properly, instead of having a (perhaps bad) base to begin with. You'll learn from rebuilding things too, I think a lot more than from repairing spots. It's up to you, but I suggest to rebuild that part ![]() |

Deleted loads of poly's and started over with nose and section, side pods next, rear im pretty happy about so far.
Here are some wire renders to show what I've done. I loving all the positive reply's here. Before I was just 2D "artist" now I'm getting the 3d dimension ![]() ps the stuff at side and bottom is a bottom for the car I made and forgot to turn of with rendering...looks kinda funny.. |
