Wow!! 8o
This looks realistic!!
I gotto agree with andy though

Any tips on how you did the tiretread? Since I also use Lightwave, and most tutorials cover Max - which in this case works totally different.
Thanks!

thx guys

you re right about the white rim, need to be more...white
will check that for the next render!

about some tips for the tread, i just make the first one, i try to make it as clean as possible, i clone it(50 units for this tire), weld the points, and after i make a bend to gives it the round shape. you just need to think about your subdivision, who let you have a clean and round thing when bending it.
its applicable to lightwave, but sure it could be done without problem with other apps. max will make it without problems i think.
hope that help

Hmm, so bending really is the way to do this.. I usually (the few times I tried) came up with a gap between the start and end. But I guess that's just a matter of 0.1 degrees more/less, etc.. Haven't tried to model a tread in a while
Thanks, I will try it out soon!

yep bending is the easiest way for me. you can clone it with some offset rotation, but that mean you have the good shape first, who is very hard.
sometime you need to bend like 420° to close your shape..., but the only goal is to have a round thing.

here s the wire, maybe that can help
the tread could be done better, and i will remake it to be more accurate compare to the reel tire tread.

hey man, great render setup,

can you please give some tips on how you achieve this rubber material, it looks very realistic and smooth, unlike the materials i can come up with that seem to need a harsh ammount of glossyness.

yep you got it, many glossyness
its a really simple surface, with just some noize in the diffuse, and a 0.6 for glossiness, with high subdivision.

so, im currently searching for a shape, and would like to make a mix between a formula 1, a super seven and a hulme F1..to make a car who could go on road. (the ultimate road speed machine...)
so here s what i have, just some spline to see how that could look.
but for me that really looks too much like the hulme F1, even if i try to not make the same shape.
arf, he really makes a beautifull car with this hulme F1, not much to do now after this..
so, what do you think guys?

awesome tire and rim sooo realistic it's really unbelievable.

about the concept, so the front wheels are going to be open and the rear wheels under some bodywork? imo that might look a bit strange but it's your choice
