Crux Mech

Hey guys, I just bought the Crux DVD from 3D Palace cos I wanted to learn how to rig an animate a bit more. So I've just started the modelling of the Crux mech, heres a quick pic of it so far. Its not much but I'll keep you updated throughout.

you've got a bit of smoothing issues in the large flat surface, of which part I'm not sure its name... lol

But it looks like the surface somewhat caves in towards the center. Other than that all seems good

Thanks MMM I fixed that up, just a hidden vert. Little bit more of an update on the foot, just a few more hydraulics

Still not much of an update, but I assure you it will get better
Just added some more hydraulics on the sides so it can pivot properly.

Thanks very much for the comments Erik, this one is a lot bigger project than the last one, so it should be a lot of fun

Looks very nice so far. I'll definately be keeping an eye on this project. Even though you say there's not much detail, it looks real good already.

oke cool, but isn't it easier to start with a simpel model for animation? My way is altijd to experiment with simpel things first and then when i have the method in control i make more complex things. Your previous mech was a pritty complex shape so..

And do you have a picture of what it will look like in the end, you made me very curious.

Yeah once I finish making the foot I will rig it up so the pistons all work properly, then make the leg and so on

it's looking really hot. The only thing i have to crit is that the legs seems to be a bit big compared to the feet, but well i can't see it in the whole picture so maybe it's just now. The detail is stunning so keep it going

Yeah I noticed the leg did look a bit big, so I shrunk it down a bit, you'll see in the next update that it looks more proportioned. Thanks for your comments guys

Hey guys, thought I'd start this one back up, just to learn a bit more about animation. So Ive modelled the lower leg now and still lots of detail still to do on it. Let me know what you think
