It's been a while since I've posted any work here...

Here is my progress of my Fire Engine I've been working on... modeled in SketchUp and rendered in Kerkythea

Beginning:

here is the seats, specially made for the engine:

they are back-less with holders for SCBA equipment.

here is an update on windows and such:

some more shots of my progress:

here I have added some mirrors to make it seem like the real thing...

more mirror fun...

here are more shots of the windshield being placed in the model:

continuing:

and here i've added in the front wheels to make it jump! I increased the door jamb width to make the doors seem more realistic as well...

i've got to smoothen out the windshield in the corners to help make it flow from side to side... I have to add some lights to the front as well as flashers and all that fun...

Daaamn, I would love to see this one in sa! It would be the very first high detailed modern american fire engine you can download for a game. Great job, looks fantastic. Whats the name of this truck and do you use blueprints? I found a great source for blueprints of american fire engines and pumps.

Nice work for Sketchup, which makes me wonder why you're using it hehe.

thanks?

I wasn't sure if this forum had a limit to the amount of pictures posted in each post... another modeling forum I posted this on only let's you post 3 [img] at a time.

and yes that google thing .... i was trying it out and wanted to take a different approach with the program beside all the houses and other things people create with it.

rather than tell me it needs more detail, please offer something I can use, do you have pictures or an idea of what a Fire Engine looks like in your parts of the globe? American Fire Engines are a little different than Engines across the pond, simply telling me it needs more detail (when I clearly state that this is a WIP and not a complete render) offers me no insight and very little idea of what needs work.

By all means, if you have something constructive to offer than do so.

thanks! could you please PM me or upload the blueprints? I'd love to take a look at them... right now this design is from a set of blueprints I have for an American LaFrance.

like I said, I've seen some of the work SketchUp has done and was impressed by how much of a community it draws. Every SketchUp forum I've visited people model a lot of houses and use it mainly for architectural reason... I didn't see many people modeling cars with so I decided to see if it could be used for more than just building houses.

SketchUp is a great alternative (not comparison of the applications) for those that cannot afford 3Ds Max, and is much easier to operate.

I have 3Ds Max 9 and enjoy the program, but I haven't been using it lately (hence the very low post count and very minimal activity here) and I wanted to see if I could model a car with another alternative.

I appreicate the insight.

After long searching, I found it again Here it is: Seagrave Fire Apparatus

Just choose the kind of fire truck you want, some of the blueprints of the same truck are in 2 different pdfs, because of the size.

It's a nice project. Rarely modeled vehicle, good level of details.

I've just one critic about the wheel arch : the edges are quite visible, you should increase subdivision levels.

Keep us updated !

Currently project : Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster
