Belly Tank Racer

Hello all,
Here is another project i am working on.
Take a Ford V8 flathead and a WWII surplus P-38 belly tank and you have a cheap, clever and effectively streamlined racer.
The client purchased a very battered belly tanker and wanted to see what it may look when restored.
Take a Ford V8 flathead and a WWII surplus P-38 belly tank and you have a cheap, clever and eye-catching solution. The wheels are typical 30s Ford spokes, i have added streamlined caps. Also added are a crashbar, louvers and windscreen. The louvers are just grafted into the tank shape.
Can anyone help me with the mapping? I used cylinder UVWs but they distort as the shape tapers fore and aft.
Thanks for watching!

That is difficult shape to map, I think cylindrical mapping isn't best option. Check this tutorial if it would help. It shows well how to map round objects

Great work though, would be interesting to drive that one hehe

Very interesting project and excellent execution! Congratulations! I like these racers a lot.

Concerning the mapping. I think it is ok like that, especially when this is a work for a client. You managed to show everything you had to show.

I have noticed that in commercial projects it is the ability to make a good model fast which is of primary importance. Perfect model is a virtue of non-commercial projects...
