Mystery car! At first I thought it was a Lancia Lambda, but this has no sliding pillar front suspension and a different grille. What do our Czech members have to add? Nice donation, keep them coming in. Ettore

Yes, its czech car for sure. And the words "Lidovy vuz" aren't part of the name, cos it means somethingy like "cheap car" (in fact its exactly the same as the translation of Volkswagen from German).

Its name is just Z18 and the letter Z is shortening of "Zbrojovka" (which means "armoury").

Thanks for this. I was looking for information about this car on wikipedia (great site for lots of information about cars), but I couldn't find anything. I didn't think of "Československá zbrojovka" as a search string.

Volkswagen means "People's car", not "cheap car". In a positive, not pejorative way. This is an important fact, I'd say... But I'm obviously taking a stroll off-topic.
